Nevada was admitted to the Union on October 31, 1864. Its current senators are Democrat Harry Reid (Class 3) and Republican Dean Heller (Class 1).

As of October 2016, there are three former Senators from Nevada who are living, two from Class 1 and one from Class 3. The most recent senator to die was Chic Hecht of Class 1 (1983-1989) on May 15, 2006. The most recent Class 3 senator to die was Alan Bible (1954-1974) on September 12, 1988.
