Plot summaries

In Steps, a man who had been active in a twelve-step program is found crucified in his home. Program members are uncooperative with the authorities, so the police need to find a source within the organization. A police detective approaches Magni, who is just out of rehab, and asks him for help. While Magni is struggling with recovery and abused bodies pile up, it becomes more and more apparent to him that the villain is following the twelve steps in his deeds.

In Forgiveness Magni has been hired to write a book based on interviews with people who have survived violence and tragedy. Magni finds himself involved in an investigation of mysterious deaths that start to appear connected in an unexpected way.

In Trapped the main character, Sonia, an attractive single mother in her thirties is an imaginative, albeit unwilling cocainesmuggler. Her main adversary, Bragi, an almostretired customs officer, knows all the tricks in the book after decades of experience. Not only must Sonia think of new and increasingly daring ways to outwit her nemesis, she must also find a way to get out of the trap. All this while keeping her secret safe from her ex-husband and her lover, a former high-level bank executive who is under prosecution after the Icelandic financial crash. A financial-crime and drug smuggling story, Trapped is also a love story between two women, who have to face their destiny in the aftermath of a nation’s financial and social collapse. An original and sexy Nordic crime novel with a suspenseful plot, intriguing characters and a fantastic setting in Iceland’s scenic capital during the winter of 2010-2011, full of ghostly abandoned, half-built buildings and dusty with ash from a volcanic eruption.

In Implicated Sonja believes that she’s finally escaped the trap set up to ensnare her by unscrupulous drug lords. But when the person she cherishes above all else in the world, her son Tomas, is taken from her, all hell breaks loose again. Even though she sacrifices everything she owns in order to cut loose, freedom keeps slipping further away. Former banker Agla is awaiting sentencing for financial misconduct, but that’s not all that troubles her: she owes money to some extremely powerful men and Sonja, whom she loves so dearly, doesn’t want to see her. Sonja’s behavior is also causing Customs Officer Bragi some concern; has he calculated wrong? All of them are in a nerve-wracking situation—and it’s impossible that it will end well.
