Lena Ma (simplified Chinese: 马艳冰; traditional Chinese: 馬艶冰; pinyin: Mǎ Yànbīng; born July 7, 1987), is a Canadian beauty queen known for winning Miss World Canada 2009.[1] She was the winner of the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2004. She participated in Miss Chinese International 2005 but did not place in the top 3; the eventual winner was Leanne Li.

Biography

Ma was born in Jinan, Shandong and immigrated to Canada at age nine.[2]

In 2008, she participated in Miss World Canada. She finished as the 4th runner-up. She also received the Miss Photogenic and Miss Entrepreneur award. The winner of Miss World Canada 2008 was Leah Ryerse.

On March 21, 2009, Ma won the title of Miss World Canada 2009, the first Canadian woman of ethnic Chinese descent to do so. At Miss World Canada 2009, Ma also won the Miss Talent award (vocalist), Beauty With a Purpose Award (judged on community/charity volunteering), Best in Evening Gown Award, Best in Interview Award, and the Top Model Award. She represented Canada at the Miss World contest, held in December 2009 in South Africa. She won Miss World Talent (tied with Sierra Leone), which fast-tracked her to the Top 16, and eventually placed as 4th runner-up overall.

Ma studied at Queen's University and graduated in 2009.[1]
