Lately is the third single released from Tyrese's first studio album Tyrese (1998). The single reached number 56 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 12 on the R&B chart. The song stayed on the Hot 100 chart for a total of thirteen weeks.[1]

Anita Baker released a cover version of "Lately" to much acclaim on August 7, 2012,[5] as the lead single from her forthcoming album, Only Forever.[6][7] In 2013, Baker received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance.
