The Ladies World Snooker Championship is the leading professional snooker tournament in women's snooker.

History

The first championship was held in 1976. From 1998 to 2003 the championship was backed by Embassy, with the final taking place at the Crucible Theatre during the men’s world championship, but following the restrictions on tobacco advertising in 2003, WPBSA ceased support for the tournament in 2004 and the event was not held because of the WPBSA's financial difficulties. The event was revived in 2005 under the WLBSA when it was held at the Cambridge Snooker Centre. Reanne Evans is currently the most successful player in the tournaments history having won the championship eleven times. The current champion is Reanne Evans in her 11th reign. In June 2016, it was announced that for the first time since 1995 the Ladies World Snooker Championship will be held outside of the UK, being relocated to Toa Payoh, Singapore.[1]
