La Vall de Bianya (formerly Vall de Vianya and Capsech) is a municipality in the comarca of Garrotxa, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. This municipality consists of the villages of the Bianya valley and the Bac valley. The Town Hall is situated in L'Hostalnou de Bianya, and the most populated village is La Canya. The municipality includes a small exclave to the south-east.

Etymology

The name Bianya (also written Vianya), comes from Via Annia, a Roman road that crossed the valley. The name Via Annia is pre-Roman, and probably comes from the Celtic name Vianna, preserved under the name Vienne in many French towns.
