    La Tale is a 2D side-scrolling online game developed by Actoz Soft. Gamers take the role of adventurers in a mythological fantasy world.

    It was launched in South Korea in February 2006 where it was well received. In February 2007, Actoz entered into an agreement with Chinese game operator Shanda to open a server in mainland China.[1] On March 18, 2008 OGPlanet signed a contract with Actoz Soft to bring La Tale to North America. Aeria Games launched La Tale in Europe on July 30, 2009, and closed the server on October 21, 2010.[2]

    Sign-ups for North America closed-beta testing began on July 10, 2008. Testers were selected from 22 July to 30 July. Closed-beta testing began on July 31, 2008[3] and ended on August 6, 2008. An open-beta test was held for fileplanet subscribers from August 15, 2008 to August 18, 2008. Official open-beta testing began on August 21, 2008 and ended on September 3, 2008. La Tale was officially released on September 18, 2008.[4]

    La Tale was also published by GameNGame, but this version closed in May 2015.

    Gameplay

    Gameplay of La Tale is based on most MMORPGs. Players control a single character that combats monsters, obtains and completes quests, and participates in other activities. The game has a 2D side-scrolling setting similar to MapleStory and Ghost Online. The keyboard is used to hotkey character actions while the mouse is primarily used to speak to Non-player characters (NPCs), purchase items, and manipulate the items (via Enchants, Upgrades, etc.).

    There are two types of currency in the North American version of La Tale: Ely and Astros. Ely is the normal in-game currency, used to buy equipment and other usable items. Ely is gained through killing monsters, selling items, and completing quests. Astros are the currency used to purchase fashion-shop items. Astros must be purchased through OGPlanet, similar to buying NX Cash for Nexon products. Astros were not introduced during closed-beta testing but were tested in open-beta (and is now added in the game). Note that the clothes you buy from the fashion shop are permanent and will never expire. Unlike, Nexon games, however, one may purchase Astro items with Ely from other players. Although it can be purchased, buying un-tradeable items can result in being banned or scammed. There is no safe way unless the player buys something that can be traded. To tell the difference between trade-able and un-tradeable items, simply hover over the item and see if "Trade" is green. If it is grayed out, then you cannot trade it.

    Gameplay and characters

    One player account has up to three slots for characters, there will also exist 5 more slots in which players can activate by buying a special item from the Astro Shop which is available year round called the Character Slot Card. Players have the choice of choosing their character's gender, class, and appearance. Names are also given to characters at this point (be warned that even if a character is deleted, the name will not be reusable).

    Hit points (HP) are displayed on the top left corner of the screen in orange, upon having a low amount of HP the bar will turn red. HP can be recovered by using potions, consumables, by sitting. Few items and equipment have HP regeneration ability, enables gradual HP recovery per set of time. For example, the Syringe in fashion shop has a 70% HP and SP recovery over the time span of 10 seconds with a 30-second cool down. Reaching zero hit points gives the player an option of returning to the nearest town or returning to the nearest saved waypoint, then will be resurrected with half HP and SP unless a Potion of Resurrection is used, This allows the character to be resurrected at the place time you reach zero hit points.

    Spirit points (SP) are also displayed on the top left corner in blue. This notifies the amount of SP, or points for skill usage, the player has left. SP can be recovered by potions, consumables or by sitting. Few items and equipment have SP regeneration ability, enables gradual SP recovery per set of time. SP will be consumed on most skill usages. Wizards and Bards have the ability to heal, they are able to substitute SP for their own HP or other players' HP. However, there is a new class that doesn't need SP to use their skills: Card Master. This class has three different bars that is essentially exactly the same as SP but are used for different skills. The three bars are: Darkness, Elemental, and Mana Cards.

    Experience points (XP) states how much experience points the player has to acquire in order to reach the next level. Experience points are gained through killing monsters and completing quests, though players can also gain XP by saving at a Stone of Iris or Returning Stone (note that this only works on Returning Stones and Stones of Iris that were not saved yet). At Level 10 and higher, XP Penalty system applies when you die, reducing 3% XP (and 2% Ely) on each death, but preventable if you have Iron Will (attained through an NPC that sells consumables ex. Dora) or Potion of Resurrection. Experience points are also influenced by combos, which are series of attacks that do not fail or miss the target. A combo may reach an amount of 9,999 (upon exceeding 9,999 hits, it will still show 9,999 hits). Status points, or "stats", are preset and are automatically added to the character upon leveling up (maximum level is 220). A Stat Powder Coupon can be used to get a stat decrease and increase. Upon use, you can decrease a stat by 5% from being added when leveling and increase a stat by 10%. Keep in mind that only a decrease and increase powder stacks. If you are already high level and can no longer use it while leveling, there are Stat Reset books that can be used along with the Stat Powder potions; it might take a few tries to get a desirable outcome.

    Classes

    There are 8 starting classes in La Tale. Each class specializes in one of the four stats in the game: Power, which determines flinch rate and damage capability; Stamina, which determines HP and defense capability; Magic, which determines something similar to Power (except with regards to magic damage and magic defense); and Luck, which determines Critical Rate.

    Warriors are the class of Power. They wield either two-handed swords, spears, or knuckles. Although they lack defensive capabilities, Warriors excel at dealing high amounts of physical damage in the frontlines. This class is recommended for beginners, since they are good for soloing. However, due to their low defense, they can die rather quickly.Warriors are used for the sole purpose of dealing physical damage from short range. They are the one of the strongest classes, making them excellent for players who prefer powerful attacks. They are usually paired in the frontlines with Knights. Warriors are the only class that can use greatswords and spears.

    Knights are the class of Stamina. They wield either a sword or blunt weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, or they can wield knuckles (but no shield). Like the Warrior class, they cannot use daggers. Their exceptionally high physical and magical defenses and stamina allow Knights to withstand large amounts of damage. Knights possess the highest stamina of any class and have average offense. They are commonly used as tanks, players that absorb most, if not all, of the damage to keep other members of the party away from harm. Templar Knights even have healing abilities.

    Wizards are the class of Magic. They wield staves, daggers, and knuckles. They mainly deal area-of-effect damage by using their magic, which is divided into four elements: fire, water (which is further broken down into damaging water skills and healing water skills), wind, and earth. Wizards are great for damage and support at a distance. Wizards can either be entirely offensive, entirely defensive, or a mixture of both. Fire and earth tend to be more offensive, while water and wind tend to be more defensive, note that water and winds elements have faster recharge than fire and earth. Players can also choose to become healers by using healing water skills as a Wizard/Sorcerer or song/guitar heal skills as a Bard. Later in game when wizards job advance, they can no longer use daggers or get any dagger skills. Most players use two different elements instead of sticking to one since there are beneficial skills in each element. Also, Earth is the only one to not be able to use skills freely in the air unlike the other three elements.

    Explorers are the class of Luck. They wield daggers, bows, crossbows, and knuckles. Most Explorers deal damage from a distance. They lack the damage output of the other classes, but they are compensated with very high attack speed and high critical attack rate. Explorers mainly deal supportive physical damage from long range. Their long range is also accompanied by increased attack speed, making them perfect for players who prefer distanced combat. Treasure Hunters are the best class to find rare items due to their high item drop rate and Gunslingers are also long ranged and have skills with short cool downs.

    Engineers are the Balanced class. The stats they gain from leveling are distributed pretty much equally. They wield toolboxes. Their special abilities involve using contraptions from their toolbox, which gives them a varied set of skills to choose from. They also can plant a totem or turret which deals constant damage or makes certain effects to any enemies around it for about ten seconds. Different turrets have different effects such as attacking, slowing, pushing, etc.

    Soul Breakers wield souls in which many represent the monsters in LaTale. They are also a magic class, but it utilizes different types of elements. There is a Red, Blue, and Black Soul. Through every job advancement, a new soul is gained, meaning first job only has access to the Red Soul. Some souls take a while to charge their skill, some are fast. It depends on a player's play style when choosing a soul. Most players usually just choose the strongest one regardless of what they like.

    Card Masters is also the class of Magic. They wield cards that take up both the weapon and the shield slot. This class isn't a short range nor long ranged class because it has both type of skills. Card Master is special because this class doesn't use SP for attacks but rather three other bars that were stated above (Darkness, Elemental, and Mana). The two job promotions this class can choose from is when you decide if you want to be a long ranged or close ranged class. Battle Master is close range, while High Master is long range.

    Wanderers is a class of Strength. They wield a Black Jade and Lantern. However, the lantern is able to turn into a Katana sword with a special transformation skill. Meaning, the same weapon is used to attack with both a sword and a lantern. For sword, it is mostly based on skill combos that you can rearrange in any order. You input the order into the slots on the right side of the sword skill tab and place the shortcuts onto your hot keys. Then, proceed to hold down either of the two shortcuts to do the combos you have selected.

    Promotions

    A feature that enables player to advance to higher class after reaching certain amount of level. You also get different weapons and new skills depending on which class you possess.

    2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Sub Job Promotions

    Upon reaching level 50, 2nd Job Class change is possible. For all classes, the Class Change center is on Desert Area (unless you are a Card Master), a Field Map after the City of Aoich. To get 3rd Job Class Change, one has to reach level 100. With the Infinity update, they completely wiped out the 3rd job and Sub Class quest lines. To get Sub Class, a player reaches level 140. By going to the Quest menu, under the Tutorial tab is where you will find the quest to job advance. Follow what it says in the Detail and Summary to successfully advance to the next class. With this update, 3rd Job and Sub Class no longer takes hours and hours of questing. Now, 4th Jobs are the only ones that have a quest line. Even then, they were greatly shortened and made easier along with the Infinity patch. For 4th Jobs, the character has to be level 170 to even start receiving the quests.

    Skills

    Skills are split into five categories: General, Support, Action, Emotions, and Temporary.

    In each category, there are sub sections.

    The General tab consists of: Attacking Skills, Miscellaneous Skills, and Special Skills (which only apply if you are 4th job or sub class). Attacking skills are pretty straight forward. These are skills used to hit monsters, but some skills are passives that increase the attack power of your character as soon as you put skill points into it, meaning you don't have to press the skill to activate it. Miscellaneous skills are mostly buffs, support, and passive skills that increase the stat of your character. Special skills have the same idea except these don't require skill points. You can only get one skill from each row and to get a skill from all four rows requires your character to be at least level 190. The General tab is the only one that requires skill points. You get 1 skill point per level up unless you are a Sub Class, which gains 3 per level.

    The Support tab consists of: Auxiliary Skills, Item Skills, Ely Skills, and Fight Arena Skills. Auxiliary skills are skills that let you get through the game and complete quests. In this tab, there are such skills as Mining, Digging, and Ignite. Item skills are normally pet buffs that you can activate while having a pet equipped. Most players don't use this section, as opening the pet menu allows them to put each pet buff on their hotkeys. Ely skills are skills you can get purely by using Ely. With the release of the Engineer class line, new skills called "Ely Skills" were introduced into the game. One skill for increasing of the Four Stats: Power, Stamina, Magic, and Luck. These skills are purchased and there is no level requirement. These are somewhat expensive for new players, so they are not a priority. Some skills cannot be unlocked without going to various dungeons to succeed a book that is dropped by the boss. Books that can't be accessed through bosses come from boxes in Fashion Shop that give a random item upon use. The last way to get the remaining skills are through PvP. You have to reach a certain rank in order to trade in PvP points for a book. Fight Arena skills are those that are earned through getting PvP points and trading them in for skills that help counter or fight another player.

    The Action tab consists of: Basic Actions. They are simply actions the character performs in general. These skills include jump, sit, fish, etc. Action skills do not require any skill points, as they are already at the character's disposal. For classes such as Strider (and Blade Master), they have two skills called Special Hard Attack and Special Plain Attack. They can only be used when your character has enough points in the Special Gauge and those points are gained through attacking a monster or player. Side note, Striders and Blade Masters' Special Gauge points disappear if they are not used within a few seconds. If your class does not have these skills, then disregard everything that was just said.

    The Emoticon tab consists of: Emoticon A and B. Essentially, they are the same thing but section A has most of the emoticons that can be acquired through killing monsters or bought from Fashion Shop using Astros. Ones that are a monster drop aren't 100% success rate. The guidebooks are of varying difficulty, and some may fail.

    The Temporary tab consists of: Temporary Skills. These are usually skills that are used for events going on at the time. They assist you in completing the missions that come. As the title states, most of the skills are temporary and will not stay with your character after the event is gone.

    A player may use a skill by clicking the skill symbol on the skill menu. A simpler way is set a button on the keyboard to that particular skill. Skills are also color-coded. Blue stands for Weapon skills, purple for Magic skills, gray for Miscellaneous skills, red for Action skills, and green for Emoticons. Symbols without a colored background (clear) are consumable items.

    Most skills have cool down times, which are noted by the skill symbol being shaded. Once all the shading has disappeared, the skill is able to be used again. A new addition to the game has been implemented in which the skills show the seconds or minutes left until the skill can be used again. Also, some Weapon and Magic skills can be chained into combos. They are noted by the flashing word "Combo" on the right side of your screen. Chaining these skills together allows the player to use them quicker, ensuring the combo will continue. However, only skills of the same tree and of the same vertical branch can be used in combos. Sometimes, it just requires the player to learn how to play their class and discover their own play style. A few classes are flexible in skills you can chain such as Sefirot and Hero.

    Guilds

    Guilds are associations of many players. They are created by using 1,500,000 Ely and a guild crystal of choice which can be bought in the fashion-shop, from other players, or found by hunting monsters, though this can be very rare. There are three types of guilds: Order (good), Chaos (evil), and Neutral. Every member of a guild receives stat bonuses according to the guilds current level. However, certain guild types give certain stat bonuses, so choosing the right guild type is important. Most guilds choose Neutral to get the stat that benefits the players the most. Guilds also have guild emblems, which are the official insignias of guilds. When created, all guilds have the same preset emblem. The emblem symbol and background can be changed, but costs vary depending on what level the guild needs to be to have the emblem and how good it looks. Not all emblems and backgrounds can be obtained through Ely though. Some are acquired through boxes in Fashion Shop and events. The remaining requires the player to trade in items to get the coupon needed for the emblem they desire.

    Guilds have six ranks for its members: Apprentice, Veteran, Maestro, Captain, and Boss (Guild master not included). The name of the guild rank varies on each guild type. There can only be one guild master at a time. Those of higher rank than apprentice are able to promote and demote any other member of lesser rank. They are also able to invite other players to the guild while guild masters and bosses can kick out a guild member. They act like single units, meaning each member benefits from the accomplishments of all guild members. Guilds actually have levels and experience points(GP), which are gained when a member completes a quest or turns in GP items dropped by monsters. When the required amount of GP is gathered, the guild leader collects the correct number of guild crystals and levels up the guild in the guild room, giving a greater maximum amount of members and higher stat bonuses. It is important for guilds to look for loyal long term players because if a player leaves a guild all of that member's GP is also taken out of the guild. There is no way to regain GP lost by leaving a guild and a player's GP does not follow them from guild to guild. There is also a consequence when a player leaves the guild. They have a three-day penalty in which no guild can invite that player for the next 72 hours.

    Guild master can plant guild crop in a guild and crop can be harvested in 14 days without crop accelerator. Vice-master and master can then harvest the crop with their guild mates and enjoy a luxurious reward, which is the guild secret room. Guild item such as guild costumes, accessories, foods, and weapons can also be purchased inside the guild room.

    Map

    During closed-beta testing, Jiendia had four major cities: Belos, Elias, Yong Gyoung, and Aoich. Elfa, Ves, Atlantis, Lilliput, and Midgard have been added in the official release. Although there aren't many cities added after, the game did release a lot of places with waypoints. They aren't necessarily cities but places where it would be convenient to save. With the new waypoint system, players can save in almost any map excluding the ones that require a player to be over 200 to enter. When created, all characters start in the town of Belos, a small town that introduces game basics to newcomers. Elias is the main city in LaTale, as it holds much of the game features such as the PvP arena, guild hall access, and beauty shop. It is the place where most players set their shop.

    There are various explore-able areas in between the cities. These areas hold monsters, which are essential to finishing quests and gaining experience. There are also Instance Dungeons for parties of players, with "Lair of Evil Dragon" the "easiest" dungeon, other Instance Dungeons include "Spooky Village", "Shangri-La", and "Frozen Labyrinth". The grinding instance dungeons, however, have mostly moved to one place. In each city resides an NPC named Shalo. By talking to him, you can move to the "Link Between Time" which contains most dungeons. Keep in mind, the Infinity update made the map available to any player that walks in; it is no longer a private instance dungeon, or even a dungeon at all.

    Pets

    Pets are also included in La Tale. They serve the purpose of assisting their owners while out in the field. Pets have three forms: Egg, Baby, and Adult. They evolve as they gain experience, which is obtained through killing monsters while having the pet equipped first. The other five sub pets will not gain experience. Pets gain more skills as they evolve. However, they do not level automatically. Once the pet has reached 100% in their experience bar, the player must use leveling pills in order to advance their pet. In majority of the cities, there is an NPC named Sero that sells level up supplements for pets only.

    Pets also have stats, which are obtained through the enchantment of the pet. Enchanting is done by using enchanting jewels, which are bought from pet shops. Once the pet has been enchanted, their stats are added onto the player stats, giving the player an increase in whichever stat jewel was used. Note that it must be the lead pet. In other words, the pet must be shown following your character on the screen.

    They have a limited lives (usually lasting for only 60 days). However, they can be revived by using revival herbs, which are purchased from the cash shop. When using the charger, the pet is only revived to a 30-day time limit. They can be repetitively used one after another, though that isn't recommended. The only exception to this rule are Ugly Eggs, which last for only 15 days, but may be revived from an in-game version of the revival herb for 100,000 Ely. Ugly eggs honestly serve no purpose unless you want to level it to 20 to trade it in for a 24k Golden Egg through the NPC Sero.

    Not all pets are from Fashion Shop. A lot of them come from La Deck, a darting system that consists of 400 targets. More often than not, pets are the 1st place prize. Another way to obtain a pet is from the boxes that this game releases in Fashion Shop that are gotten through the means of spending Astros.

    A player can use up to six pets at once for buffing. Keep in mind that not all pet buffs stack with each other. By checking the LaTale Forums or simply asking other players, you can find out what pets are best to stack for the best damage output. Also, some pets have two skills that are gained upon leveling the pet to 20. One may stack with another pet's skill, but the other one might not. To make sure none of them overlap, check the buff bar on the top to see if one pet skill disappears when another is used.

    One hour long pet buffs were inputted into the game instead of having them last 15 minutes like before. Furthermore, changing channels or logging off no longer wipes your buffs. This is efficient when doing dungeons that consistently make you go in and out such as Coliseum.

    Pets were not introduced in closed-beta or open-beta testing. During official release, two pets (Naughty Dino and Fairy Dino) were introduced during "Pet Preview Quest", a 2-week event that allowed users to try Pets for a brief time.

    PvP (Player versus Player)

    PvP is a key feature to the LaTale in-game community. Players may enter an "official" or "unofficial" PvP. "Official" matches can now be accessed through anywhere in the game by clicking on the Menu and then PvP, which will pair you with an opponent randomly. There are free-for-all PvPs and team PvPs. Most players do single 2-player PvPs. "Unofficial" PvPs may be done by right-clicking a player then requesting "Challenge to PvP". Any level player may enter a PvP. To compensate for the potential difference of level so that the game may be a reasonable competition, the game will boost the stats of a player according to the lowness of their level. For example, if a level 20 Warrior fights a level 180 Blade Master, the Warrior will receive a greater stat increase than the Blade Master. However, this is not very effective in leveling the playing field considering that the Blader will have better stats, better armor, better weapons, and better skills. Luckily, all promoted classes of equal level are roughly equal in terms of innate advantage at a given level. After an "Official" PvP, one will receive Honor and PvP Points. Honor is the sum of all PvP points earned. If one loses a match, he will receive 70 PvP Points but if he wins he will receive 35 PvP Points. One key thing about the PvP system is that "Normal Battles" last five minutes but do not give any points at all. Quick Battle, on the other hand, ends after the player is killed once; this is the one that gives points. There are more options than 2-Player Free For All. PvPing allows up to a 8 player match of Free For All in which all the players are on their own without a team mate backing them up. 3 on 3 is the rotation of players on one team. Once a member has fallen, the next in line will take over and fight the person on the opposing team. This goes on until all 3 players have been defeated. After every defeat, the winner will gain a little bit of HP back. Party Battle allows any amount of players to enter with the max of four on each team unlike 3 on 3. Like Quick Battle, once the player dies, they can only spectate through different perspectives of other players by pressing the arrow key. They are unable to revive once their HP bar hits 0.

    PvP Items & Skills

    PvP Points are used to buy PvP Items and PvP Skills. PvP Items and PvP Skills are items and skill, respectively, that can only be used inside PvP. However, there are PvP stat books that require a certain ranking to use and it increases your stats inside and outside PvP. Getting all the skills require an immense amount of time, so this should only be a priority when one has reach end game. Other items that can be exchanged with PvP points are PvP Gems, PvP Potions, Ignate's Box of Honor, and Honorable Stone. PvP gems and potions are used to boost ones' stats while in PvP and has no effect outside of it. Ignate's Box of Honor contains PvP pots, Honorable Stones, Warlord Necklace, and Warlord Badge. Those are all PvP exclusive items and only work when a player is in a match. There are other items that can be gained from the box, but most are not important. Honorable Stones allow one to upgrade a piece of PvP Armor that can by acquired through the NPC Ring in the Fight Arena. Don't attempt to upgrade the piece without being the right rank, as you won't be able to wear it. By pressing the stat window and going to the General tab, it shows your ranking, honor points, and points. Anyone can get this gear; it can be purchased with Ely instead of points.

    Other features

    Waypoints were introduced to La Tale to make traveling easier. Players may save their location at waypoints (called Stones of Iris in the field and Returning Stones in cities). When the player uses a Stone of Iris Fragment, the player is transported to their last saved waypoint. When the player dies, they also have the choice of returning to their last saved waypoint. They can also use warp capsules to move around La Tale. There was a new feature added that allows a player to save in any map with a few exceptions. To use this feature, open up the waypoint menu and go to "My Point". Click on one of the boxes and press Save Location at the spot you wish to save at. One thing that cannot be done though, is warping to that spot when your character dies.

    Personal Shops in La Tale were made to assist players in selling and purchasing items from other players. It is also required for the player to purchase a shop license in order to open their personal shop. There is no tax, as economy is entirely user-run. One can be purchased through an NPC that sells consumables. To know which NPC sells what, they are labeled accordingly. The one that sells the shop license has "Tool Shop" above their name. This costs 500,000 Ely and lets the player set up a shop for an entire day (only in a city) and can place 16 items in it. An alternative way is by getting a license through Fashion Shop. They last longer than the ones purchased with Ely. Also, Fashion Shop has the exclusive Proxy Shop which allows the player to set up a shop without staying in the same spot. Their character can be in another place and the shop will still be up and running. The advantage of this shop is that the player can be doing something else in a different part of the game rather than sitting in a town waiting for items to be sold. Not only that, but a player can set up a proxy and a normal shop at the same time.

    A Mailing System was also introduced to La Tale. The mailing system is a method of communication and is operated by an NPC known as the Postman. Postman is located in almost every major town and is red both in person and on the mini map. The system allows quick messaging between players, whether online or offline. Also, the system gives the option of attaching up to 14 items and Ely to the message. This is a great method of giving gifts to other players without the hassle of trading. It costs 50 Ely to mail something and the recipient receives mail instantly. When a mail is sent, the recipient is notified with a message in the chat box saying "You have mail. Check your Mailbox with the Postman." The Postman can hold up to 40 mails. When it is full, the player cannot receive any more mails until it is cleared. Now, the mail box allows you to receive all items from the same page and the same goes for deleting. It is much easier than selecting mail one by one.

    A Marriage System was implemented into LaTale. First, a partner must gain 100% in their Proposal bar to ask for marriage. Proposal Bar % can be increased by getting online together at once per day. If both partners log in at the same time consecutively, they can get married within five days. To couple someone, press J or Menu and then Couple. Type the desired name into the Character Name field and wait for them to accept. Love Points can be gained when killing monsters whilst in the same party as your partner. For this to work, you two have to be in the same channel, not necessarily the same map. To make use of the Love Points, one can purchase a Guardian Angel Ring from Fashion Shop; it allows a player to summon their partner, recover their HP fully, or have a 10% EXP buff for 20 minutes. When the skills are used, the Current Love Points also go down. The Maximum Love Points shows the amount you two have gained throughout the partnership. When you are in a party with your couple and in the same channel, you gain 1% basic stats every time your relationship level goes up. To check what stats you gain, open up the couple menu and hover over "Relationship".

    A Coliseum was introduced to the game and is located in Belos, where players will be able to kill waves of different monsters. Players will be provided with 5 Iron Wills upon entering the underground tunnel of Coliseum. There are four different levels of the Coliseum for players such as "Beginner" for Level 1-80 players, "Intermediate" for Level 80-170 players, "Expert" for Level 140+ players, and "Hardcore" for Level 170+ players. Players will be fighting waves of monsters in Coliseum, ending with a final boss which is a wolf; the wolf's name varies on each difficulty (It is mainly known as Geral). Players no longer need a party to enter dungeons such as these, but it is more efficient running in a party rather than solo, especially for newer players. There is also a new type of Sky Coliseum which was brought into the game with the Infinity update. This is a dungeon for level 202 players and higher. There are four stages and you have to meet the level requirement to enter each one. The first stage is level 202, second stage is 205, third is 208, fourth is 211. It is not recommended to solo this dungeon by yourself, as it is hard for even strong players to clear everything fast. In the Sky Coliseum, it drops gear that cannot be leveled down. The materials needed to upgrade the armor requires one to decompose the Coliseum armor pieces a player has come across whilst killing monsters. Another way to access the upgrade stones are through quests that are given outside of the Sky Coliseum, next to the entrance of the actual dungeon.

    An Auction System was introduced and it allows players to put up items for sell and allow other players to bid for the item. This allows a player to leave it inside the Auction House and wait for the item to be sold or bid on. However, there is a sale tax in Auction as opposed to setting up a shop in town. Whatever is sold has 10% of the sale fee deducted. For the search bar in Auction, the item won't pop up unless you type the word in exactly. Not only that, but it will only search the item if you put the first word. For example, putting the second word in the item's name will make the words "The item you have searched for cannot be found" appear on your chat box.

    The Monster Index was added into the game at a later date. Most monsters in this game drop a card when slayed. When it drops, the item will appear in your consume inventory as a card with a question mark. When used, it will either succeed or fail. Low level monsters have a lower chance of succeeding, but has a higher drop rate; higher leveled monsters are the exact opposite. Upon success, the card will give bonus stats that apply to your character as a passive. There are exceptions to which places have cards and which do not. In dungeons such as Coliseum and Time Attack Instance Dungeons, there will be no cards that drop. To make sure you are hunting in the right place, press Menu and open the Monster Index. This shows all of the cards that can be obtained in game and it is separated by levels.

    The Item Codex is basically the same as Monster Index. Except in this system, the monsters will drop miscellaneous items that you can "codex" through the NPC Ignate in Elias City. Usually, these have a lower success rate than cards but they drop more often. It has the similar idea as the Index because it also gives supporting stats that will follow your character throughout the game. However, some items cannot simply be found when killing mobs. A lot of them require crafting, fishing, and leveling up pets. Both of these systems give a tremendous amount of stats as you slowly build up the amount of cards and codex you have.

    Jewels are gems that can be equipped to your character as an extra stat boost. This is one of the most important aspects of the game besides gear. To look at your gem slots, simply open up the Equip inventory where your gear is worn and click on "Jewels". Here, you will find thirteen slots. The first row are red gems and they mostly benefit physical classes, as Physical Target Defense Decrease, Strength, Stamina, and Max HP can be enchanted onto those. Gems are a special case since the base success rate for each enchant is 70% and it only goes up to level 10. On the second row, there are yellow gems that give Luck, Stamina, and Max HP. Then, on the last row, consists of blue gems that boosts the stats of magic classes. Enchants that can be added are Magical Target Defense Decrease, Magic, Stamina, Max SP, and Heal Critical Rate. The only enchant that is specific to the Bard class line is the Heal Critical Rate, in which increases the critical chance of healing more.
