Kolhabi is a town and municipality (Nepal) in Bara District in the Narayani Zone of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 4,637 persons living in 746 individual households.But now it is densely populated and many more houses and settlements have been built. Now, it is diversely populated as well. Many people from different parts of the country have migrated here. Some people of India have also made their permanent settlement here.It is growing in the sector of business very well. It has become one of the famous Business Center of Bara district. [1]

It has been changed into a municipality now. Others VDCs have been also included in Kolhabi Municipality, for example Sapahi, Prasauna, etc.

Fooding You can find some small restaurants and street-hotels where you can have local foods. You are not going to get any fancy foods such as pizza or burger. You can enjoy the local foods such as rice, dal, green vegetable, mutton, chicken, etc. For drinking water, you can stick to bottled water if you wish. There is no harm in drinking the local hand-pump water. Government has detected no harmful substance in those local hand-pump water and it is said safe for drinking purpose.

Transportation Kolhabi, is recently being developed right now and hence you will not find black topped read on the way to Kolhabi. Local public transportation are available. Direct bus from Kathmandu to Kolhabi is available. Currently, two bushes named "OM SHAKTI" and "PATHIVARA" runs from Kolhabi to Kathmandu and vice versa. Similarly, direct buses from Kolhabi to Birganj and Kolhabi to Narayanghat are available. Recently, TATA SUMOs are also available as public transportation from Kathmandu to Kolhabi which is much faster than buses. It takes only 5 to 6 hours from Kathmandu to Kolhabi via TATA SUMO. Banking and Financial Institution In kolhabi,there is only one A-class bank call CITIZEN'S BANK INTERNATIONAL. There is only one ATM macchine right now. So, if you wish to come to Kolhabi and you need bank and ATM then it's available. However, the ATM over here is not very reliable. It keeps on stop functioning and neither it open for 24 hours. So, it is always helpful to carry some cash. Kolhabi is not expensive place and with a small amount of money you can adjust over here. It is not advisable to carry large amount of cash and it is always safe through bank.

Safety and Security Kolhabi is a very safe place to visit. Here, the local people are very simple and innocent, however, you should be careful of some wild animals like elephant especially when you near by the jungle. Pick-pockets are very very rare. But, you should not be over exposing. You should never try to irritate local innocent people of here, if you do, you might invite problem for yourself. You should never try to tease girls or pass any cheap comment. If you do, you can be in a great trouble. Be disciplined, Kolhabi is really a very very safe place.
