Andrew B. Bachelor, better known by his online alias and persona King Bach, is a Canadian-born American actor, comedian, and Internet personality. He is known for being the most followed person on Vine.

Background

Andrew King Bachelor was born in Toronto, Ontario to Jamaican parents, both of whom are accountants.[2] At the age of two, his family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. Bachelor's "strict" Caribbean parents raised him in a Christian household.[3] He attended Coral Springs Charter School for both middle and high school. After graduating Bachelor enrolled at Florida State University, where he was a high jump star athlete.[4][5] He graduated from Florida State in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. While at FSU, Bachelor became a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.[4] Afterwards he enrolled in a graduate program at New York Film Academy, but dropped out in his last semester because he wanted more options in life, and moved to Los Angeles.[6] Bachelor has been noted to have a calm demeanor, contrasting with his exuberant persona portrayed on Vine.[3]

Career

Bachelor has earned 16.1 million followers and over six billion loops on Vine, ranking first on the app for number of followers.[7][8] He took the Vine follower leadership over in March 2015.[9] Though best known for Vine,[7] Bachelor is also known for his YouTube channel, BachelorsPadTv.[10] The channel and its videos have been covered by several online publications, including FSU News.[11][12][13] Bachelor has stated that he turns down most requests to upload sponsored Vines.[14]

Bachelor's Vine stardom led to him signing with UTA, and landing a recurring role in House of Lies.[15][16] In addition, he has become a recurring cast member on Wild 'n Out on MTV2. He is also on a series regular on the Adult Swim series, Black Jesus,[3] and had a recurring role on The Mindy Project. Bachelor also had a role in the spoof comedy film Fifty Shades of Black, and was a special guest host in the revived version of Punk'd on BET. He appeared as a fictional version of himself in the 2015 film We Are Your Friends.

Bachelor was introduced to Vine by Brittany Furlan, before uploading his first Vine video on April 19, 2013.[6] He starred as Big Sean in several of Bart Baker's parodies, "Problem", "Break Free", and Pharrell Williams' "Happy". Bachelor has admitted that he almost deleted one Vine, particularly the one that helped him rise as a notable personality on Vine.[3]
