Heather Phares of Allmusic doesn't believe Kids Bop 4 offers "anything that a mix of the original songs ... wouldn't provide equally well." Phares continues to question the suitably of kids singing along to songs such as "3 Doors Down's morbid 'When I'm Gone', or Justin Timberlake's vindictive 'Cry Me a River'," but admits the cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" is "a fairly good re-creation of the song" and thinks "The Anthem" by Good Charlotte "has enough punky energy to appeal to kids."[1]
