Kathleen O'Connor

Kathleen O'Connor (born 30 July 1934) is an Irish former Clann na Poblachta politician.[1]

A National School teacher by profession, she was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Clann na Poblachta Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry North constituency at the Kerry North by-election on 29 February 1956, following the death of her father Johnny Connor.[2] She did not stand at the 1957 general election, and retired from politics. She was 21 years, 7 months old when elected, making her the fourth youngest ever person elected to the Dáil. She also holds the distinction of being the first woman ever to succeed her father at a by-election to Dáil Éireann and is the first woman ever elected to the Dáil in the Kerry North constituency.[3]
