Kalighat Milan Sangha Football Club is an Indian football club from Kolkata. Formed in 1944, the club has always been amateur but in January 2012 it announced its move into professional football and was accepted into the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of football in India. They use several stadiums in Kolkata for Calcutta Premier Division matches, but most of their matches are held at the Salt Lake Stadium, which has a 120,000 capacity.

History

Kalighat Milan Sangha was founded in 1944 in Kolkata and has since grown step by step from district to state to national level.. In 1966 the club started football through Allen League under IFA. The club qualified to the first division of the Calcutta Football League for the first time in 1989. The club became the first division champions in 2008 to secure a place in the Calcutta Premier Division for the first time in 2009. Winning the 2011 edition of the All Airlines Gold Cup was a big achievement for the club.[2]

In January 2012, it was officially certified by the All India Football Federation to participate in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of football in India.[3] They also participated in the 2013 I-League 2nd Division.[4]
