Julien Benedetto

Julien Benedetto, born on 29 January 1981 at Amiens, is a French television journalist. Since September 2010, he sometimes presents the news show 7h, and at 8 am he presents the TV show Télématin on France 2.

Biography

Childhood and formation

An Under 23s tennis player, Julien Benedetto was supported by the French Tennis Federation during his adolescence. In 1994/1995, he joined the sports study section of the National pole CREPS at Reims where he trained with Paul-Henri Mathieu, a future twelfth ranked in the world tennis player. In January 1995, Julien reached the knockout stages of the Petits As a Tarbes tournament, considered the world championship for 13/14 years. Julien then chose to devote himself to his studies.

After a obtaining a bac L with honors in 1998, he started a preparatory literary class at Chatelet High School of Douai in the Nord to prepare for entrance exam to ENS. He then obtained a Licence d'history at the Faculty of Lille. In 2001 he joined the School of Journalism and Communication of Marseille(EJCM).

Career

In 2003 after short term work at The voice of the North, at TV stations France Bleu Nord and France 3 Lille, Julien did his first reporting for 13h and the 20h for France 2 doing "society" and "investigations and reports" (miscellaneous) reporting. In 2004 and 2005, he presented the sports chronicle program for Télématin.

Since 2005 he has covered, for the TV news shows 13 h and 20 h, major sporting events: the Beijing Olympics, Vancouver Olympics, Sochi Olympics, London Olympics, euro 2012, the Tour de France, Roland-Garros tennis tournament, the 6 Nations Tournament Rugby tournament, the Dakar car race, the Davis Cup, the Sking World Championships, and Route du Rhum. In September 2010, he was appointed part time presentator of the news shows 7 am and 8 am for Télématin.

Since the start of 2016, he currently presents the nightly newsshow between 21:30 and midnight, on the new French TV channel, France Info.^[1]

Distinction

In December 2010 Julien Benedetto received the Micro d'or award for a report made on the Vancouver Olympics Games. In December 2012, he received a micro d'or for a report made on the London Olympics.
