José Carlos Maltos is a Mexican former player of American football who signed as a placekicker with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL) in 2013. Maltos was cut from the team before the 2013 season began.

Biography

Maltos was born in Monterrey, Mexico, on August 18, 1991. He grew up playing soccer, but began to play American football as a high school student in Monterrey. Maltos represented Mexico in Europe at an International Federation of American Football tournament.[1]

He was a kicker for the football team at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, where he studied mechanical engineering.[2] After working out in front of NFL scouts at Southern Methodist University, Maltos was signed by the New Orleans Saints in May 2013.[1] He was released by the team in early August.[3]
