José Antonio Durán (c.1810-1880s) was an Argentine military officer and secretary of the government of Nazario Benavídez,[1] He served as correspondent of Juan Manuel de Rosas in San Juan.[2]
Biography
José Antonio was born in San Juan, possibly son of Pedro Antonio Durán, (lieutenant in the Regimiento de Infantería de Buenos Aires), and Josefa de la Calle.[3] The Colonel José Antonio Durán had accompanied the General Benavides in the military campaigns of 1841, 1842 and 1843, against Unitarian troops, he participated in the Battle of Angaco.[4]
