Jorge Enrique González Pacheco is a Cuban Poet, Writer and Cultural Entrepreneur. He has a B.A in Hispanic & Latin American Literature at the University of Havana, Cuba and M.A in Hispanic Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.[1]

Biography

González Pacheco was born in Marianao, Havana on September 9 of 1969. His mother died when he was very young, and the relationship with his father was turbulent.[2] Jorge Enrique moved to the United States in 2003, and since 2006 he has been living in Seattle.[3] He published his first poem in Alaluz, a literary magazine of University of California in Riverside.[4] He has published five books,[5] included Under the light of my blood.[6] In Cuba, the poet received the Delia Carrera Poetry Prize, a national award, in 1996. [7] Also he is an activist for the civil liberties of his hometown country.[8] One of his well known poems is dedicated to Havana.[9] González Pacheco is the Founder & CEO of the Seattle Latino Film Festival (SLFF), a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.[10][11] He has read his poetry in United States[12] and many other countries including Spain.[13]
