Jonathan Charles (born 1 January 1948 in London) was a London news anchor, news presenter and newscast for BBC World News and is now the Director of the Communications department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Journalism career

Charles was news anchor, news presenter and newscast on BBC World News programmes, BBC World News and BBC London New Year's Eve Parade Fireworks Live 2009-2010 with Kim Kardashian.

Personal life

Jonathan Charles is the Director of the Communications department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is a member of the Bank’s weekly Executive Committee. He joined the Bank in 2011 after a long and distinguished career at the BBC, winning several awards for his journalism. As a BBC presenter and foreign correspondent, he has appeared on BBC1 and BBC World News. His specialist areas include economics, the EU and international diplomacy; he has a keen interest in issues surrounding the single currency.

He holds an MA (Oxon) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oriel College, Oxford University, and is fluent in French and German.
