John Cascaes Caneira (born October 7, 1952, in Waterbury, Connecticut) is a retired professional baseball player who played 2 seasons for the California Angels of Major League Baseball.

Caneira went to Naugatuck High School in Naugatuck, Connecticut. He went 7-0 in his senior season. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the amateur draft. But instead chose to go to small Division III Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut. In college he had an overall 105-20 record.

He was selected by the California Angels in the secondary phase of the 1974 Draft. He won his first game, 6-1. Wilbur Wood took the loss for the Chicago White Sox. He had injured his rotator cuff, ending his career.
