Jody Jaress is an actress and singer. She is also the mother in law of producer / actress Anastasia King. She has been acting since the late 1950s.
Background
Jaress aka JoEllen Schafer[1] is the daughter of Freda Ellen Jones Schafer, a Johnston City, Illinois local who was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Southern California.[2] Her former husband is Michael F. Jaress.[3]
Acting career
She had a small role as a dancer in the 1979 film Love at First Bite that starred George Hamilton.[4] In 2005, she was in the David Gaz directed film Diamond Zero that starred Bronson Pinchot .[5] In 2008 she played the part of Rhea in the Dylan Reynolds directed Chain Link.[6][7] Also that year she had a part as Ruby in the TYV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the Self Made Man episode.[8]
In 2014, she played the part of Agnes in the Stanley Yung directed 2 Bedroom 1 Bath that starred Eric Roberts and Dee Wallace.[9] Also in the same year, she appeared in the Diane Cornell directed short See Me which also starred Tina Cole.[10][11]
In 2015 she starred in the Dawn Fields directed Fragile Storm, an award winning short film that also starred Lance Henriksen and Mackenzie Mason.[12]
Other work in film
She directed and wrote the script for the short film Traces of Memory that also featured Maray Ayres, Sara Ballantine, Daniela Torchia. It was produced by Hal Alpert and co-produced by Robert Amico.[13][14]
Music
Jaaress is a singer in the Blues and Jazz genre. In the past she has opened for artsists that include Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Dinah Shore, and Janet Blair. she has also shared dual billing with Bili Redd.[15]
In August 2014, she was appearing at the Gardenia Club on Santa Monica Boulevard, LA with Gary Bivona and Rick Hils.[16] In 2015 she was named a Jazz Living Legend and was celebrated at an event presented by The Living Legend Foundation Inc. which was in partnership with the Duke Ellington Society.[17]
She currently performs in an act called Jody & Linda and musical friends.[18]
