JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken) is the first season of a 2012 anime television series produced by David Production based on the manga of the same name by Hirohiko Araki, adapting the first two arcs, Phantom Blood (ファントムブラッド Fantomu Buraddo) and Battle Tendency (戦闘潮流 Sentō Chōryū). The Phantom Blood arc, which aired on Tokyo MX between October 5 and November 30, 2012, revolves around the mysterious adventures of the Joestar family, beginning with an encounter involving Jonathan Joestar, his adoptive brother Dio Brando and a mysterious Stone Mask. The Battle Tendency arc, which aired on Tokyo MX between December 7, 2012, and April 5, 2013, focuses on Jonathan's grandson, Joseph Joestar, and his fight against the mysterious Pillar Men.

The first season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure uses three pieces of theme music, two opening themes and one ending theme. The first opening theme is the song "JoJo (Sono Chi no Sadame)" (ジョジョ～その血の運命～, "JoJo ~That Blood's Destiny~") performed by Hiroaki "Tommy" Tominaga, vocalist of Japanese "brass rock" band Bluff, as the opening theme for the Part 1 episodes. The score for Part 1 was composed by Hayato Matsuo, and was released in two parts as Destiny, a bonus disc in the first Blu-ray box set released on January 30, 2013, and Future, a separate CD release on February 22, 2013. Future debuted at number 95 on the Billboard Japan Top Albums charts[1] and peaked at 115 on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts.[2] The opening theme song for the Part 2 episodes is "Bloody Stream" by Coda.[3] Its score is composed by Taku Iwasaki, and was released in two parts as Musik (German for "Music"), a standalone CD release on March 29, 2013, and as Leicht Verwendbar (German for "Light User"[Note 1]), a bonus disc for Blu-ray box set volume 4 on April 26, 2013. Musik debuted at number 63 on the Japan Top Albums charts[4] and at 89 on the Weekly Album Charts.[5] The ending theme for the whole season is British progressive rock band Yes' 1972 single "Roundabout".

The series was released on a series of nine DVDs and Blu-rays between January 30 and September 27, 2013, with the Blu-ray releases having the option of English subtitles.[6] Crunchyroll began streaming the series in April 2014. The English DVD was released on September 22, 2015 with both English and Japanese audio and subtitles.[7] A second season, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, based on the series' third arc, began airing from April 4, 2014.

England 1868. A thief named Dario Brando was raiding an overturned carriage when he and is wife find two surviving occupants, a man and his young son are still alive. The man, George Joestar, assuming Dario saved his life, claims he will forever be indebted to him. Twelve years later, George's son Jonathan, nicknamed JoJo, is a young man with the intent to become a gentleman, such as fighting for a woman's honor even if he will not win. Meanwhile, Dario is on his deathbed and he tells his son Dio to move in with the Joestar family to fulfill George's life debt. Dio does so after paying his final disrespect over his father's grave, intending to take Joestar fortune for himself. Dio does this by outshining Jonathan while making him a pariah among his family and friends. Even Jonathan's childhood love with Erina Pendleton is not safe from Dio, who takes her first kiss and makes her unable to even look Jonathan in the eye. Upon learning of Dio's action, Jonathan flies into a rage and manages to land a powerful hit on Dio. Caught off guard, some of Dio's blood is spilled on an ancient Stone Mask that seems to react until the fight is broken up by George. Later, the Joestar butler discovers that Jonathan's beloved dog Danny was somehow trapped in the incinerator with Jonathan knowing that it was Dio's retaliation.

Seven years later in 1888, Jonathan and Dio are supposedly getting along despite the former still fearful of his adopted brother with just reason. Soon after, George is ill and bed-ridden with Jonathan believing is more than a simple cold. While doing research on the strange mask, Jonathan finds the dying Dario's letter and finds the writer's symptoms are the same as his father's. Using Dio's pride against him, Jonathan deduced that Dio murdered his father and intends to the same with George. After leaving instructions for only trusted doctors to tend to his father, Jonathan sets off to London to discover the origins of the poison. Fearing Jonathan would ruin his plans, Dio steals the Stone Mask with the intent to arrange an accidental death with it. Two days later, Jonathan's search takes him to the dodgy Ogre Street where he is attacked by a man with a sawblade in bowler. But Jonathan's sense of honor and desire save his father convinces the bowler-wearing man to assist in the search for an Oriental druggist. Meanwhile, assuming that Jonathan died in Ogre Street, Dio crosses paths with two drunkards and the resulting scuffle ends with him slitting once of them to subject the other to an activated Stone Mask. But instead of the mask killing the second drunkard, Dio finds that it turned his victim into a powerful vampire that nearly kills him. Dio only just manages to survive due to the sunlight turning the vampire to dust. Returning back to the mansion, Dio is confronted by Jonathan. 
3 "Youth with Dio"[11]

Having found an antidote and given it to George, Jonathan prepares to turn Dio in to the police. Dio attempts to lower Jonathan's guard to use his blood on the mask by feigning regret as he offers to turn himself in. But the bowler-wearing man from Ogre Street, introducing himself as Robert E. O. Speedwagon, reveals himself while tells Jonathan that Dio is pure evil while bringing the druggist Wang Chen who sold Dio the poison. George, having heard the whole thing, allows Jonathan and the constables to do what they must. But JoJo attempts to handcuff him, Dio attempts to stab him and ends up killing George and uses the mask on himself while killed by gunfire. Dying, George gives Jonathan his late mother's ring as the head constable revealing that George learned of Dario's nature before taking Dio in. George requests Jonathan to bear no ill will towards Dio before passing away, only for the vampirized Dio to come back to life and kills the constables while drinking the blood of one of them. Killing a vampirized constable, Jonathan attempts to kill Dio by focusing on his head. As several attempts to kill Dio fail, Jonathan sets the mansion ablaze and leads Dio to the roof so Speedwagon can escape. Jonathan attempts to sacrifice himself by dragging Dio down to a fiery death, but Dio's attempted counter forces Jonathan to use the layout to safely land while impaling Dio on the statue of Joestar family's guardian angel. As Speedwagon takes Jonathan away from the burnt ruins, it is revealed that Dio survived as he drains Wang Chen of his blood when he attempts to grab the mask from among the debris. 
4 "Overdrive"[12]

Three days after the incident, Jonathan awakens to find Erina nursing him back to health in the hospital. As they rekindle their friendship, they encounter a strange man named Will A. Zeppeli, who performs a technique on JoJo which allows him to soothe the pain of his broken arm. Zeppeli tells JoJo about the technique, known as the Hamon, which uses the energy of one's own body to perform impressive feats of strength. He also reveals that Dio still lives, and it is Jonathan's fate to go against the Stone Mask. As Jonathan ponders about not getting Erina involved, Zeppeli notices the ripple energy residing within him. Meanwhile, Dio continues to prowl London, recruiting the vilest men he knows into his undead army, including Jack the Ripper. As Zeppeli trains Jonathan to master the Hamon, he explains how he was one of the first to discover the Stone Mask and witness its dark powers, dedicating himself to mastering the Hamon in order to destroy it. Just then, Speedwagon informs them of people going missing in Windknights Lot, so the three of them travel there. Whilst passing through a tunnel into the town, they are attacked by Jack, and Zeppeli enters into a fight with him to give Jonathan his one and only lesson into how to use the Hamon. As Jack tries to lure them into a trap, Jonathan is tasked by Zeppeli to finish him off without spilling any of the wine he has poured into a glass. Using the wine, Jonathan comes to understand the Hamon, allowing him to kill Jack from the other side of a wall using his own Hamon technique: Overdrive. 
5 "The Dark Knights"[13]

Upon arriving in Windknights Lot, Jonathan's group is pickpocketed by a talented young boy named Poco who Jonathan and Zeppeli manage to catch using their ripple powers. However, as the sun falls, they find themselves confronted by Dio, who had hypnotised Poco to lure Jonathan's group to the graveyard where they are attacked by his legion of zombies. Zeppeli attempts to use his ripple attacks on Dio, but he counters by freezing his veins. After also managing to freeze Jonathan's hand, Dio summons two powerful zombie knights, Tarukus and Blueford, to finish the job for him. As Jonathan struggles against them, Speedwagon uses his body heat to thaw Zeppeli's arm. As the battle between JoJo and Blueford intensifies, it moves into the depths of a nearby lake. JoJo decides rather than trying to face Blueford during an ascent to the surface of the lake, he dives deeper. Blueford follows, but JoJo has managed to find a pocket of oxygen rich air under a rock, and uses this breath of air to launch a Turquoise Blue Overdrive attack at Blueford. 
6 "Tomorrow's Courage"[14]

As Blueford manages to barely avoid Jonathan's attack, Jonathan is once again ensnared by his hair. However, Jonathan manages to block Blueford's attack and channel an Overdrive attack through his sword, disintegrating one of his arms, before unleashing a barrage against him. As Blueford's body starts to disintegrate, he regains his human soul, feeling at peace and leaving Jonathan his 'Sword of Luck and Pluck' before completely disintegrating. Tarukus then attacks, but Jonathan and Zeppeli manage to get Speedwagon and Poco to safety using a bunch of leaves as a hangglider. As they make their escape, Zeppeli recalls how he learned to control the Hamon from a man named Tonpetty. As Tarukus leaps after them, they touch down at a knight's training ground in order to stand against him. Jonathan is pulled inside the grounds by Tarukus, thrusting him into a Chain Neck Deathmatch, in which one must decapitate the other in order to free himself. Realizing Jonathan will be killed if no one does anything, Poco overcomes his nerves and enters the grounds via a window, managing to unlock the door so Zeppeli can get inside. 
7 "Sorrowful Successor"[15]

Zeppeli recalls how Tonpetty foretold where his death would take place; in the very place he is in right now. Knowing this, Zeppeli fights against Tarukus with the intention of finding a way to free JoJo. However, Tarkus ensnares Zeppeli with a chain and rips his body into two. Using the last of his strength, Zeppeli transfers the last of his Hamon energy to Jonathan, allowing him to heal his injuries, break free from his chains, and obliterate Tarukus. Following the battle, Zeppeli tells Jonathan that he has accepted his fate and has passed his will onto him before passing away. As Jonathan, Speedwagon, and Poco make their way back to Windknights Lot, they meet Tonpetty, along with his other students, Dire and Straizo. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Poco's sister, Peggy, has been kidnapped by Dio. 
8 "Bloody Battle! JoJo & Dio"[16]

After Poco hears that Peggy has gone out to search for him, Dio sends a zombie named Doobie to attack Peggy after she refuses to join his legion. Luckily, Jonathan and the others arrive in time to save her. Doobie soon reveals that his head is filled with poisonous snakes, managing to deliver a few bites to Jonathan's face, but neither the venom nor Doobie stands up to Jonathan's power. With Poco and Peggy reunited, Jonathan goes on to face Dio. Dire decides to face him first and launches an attack, but he is caught by Dio's freezing ability and is shattered into pieces, though with his last breath, he manages to shoot a ripple-powered rose into Dio's eye. As Jonathan learns from that sacrifice how he can damage Dio using the sword he received from Bruford, he goes on to confront Dio whilst Tonpetty and Straizo take on his undead army. Jonathan manages to slice his sword straight through Dio's body, but Dio uses this opportunity to freeze his sword and attack Jonathan's neck. However, Jonathan manages to thaw himself by heating the sword with a torch, though Dio manages to protect himself from Jonathan's attack. Just then, Jonathan sets his fists on fire to counter Dio's freezing and manages to break through his defenses with an Overdrive attack. As his body melts and he falls into the abyss, Dio launches a final attack which pierces Jonathan's hand, but appears not to do much more. With Dio presumed dead, Jonathan takes a long earned rest from his battles. 
9 "The Final Hamon!"[17]

As Dio falls following his battle with Jonathan, he decapitates himself before the ripple reaches his head, which is recovered by his zombie servant Wang Chan. Meanwhile, with the Stone Mask destroyed, Jonathan marries Erina and they head off on a honeymoon to America on a cruise across the Atlantic Ocean. As Jonathan and Erina enjoy their cruise, Jonathan discovers that Wang Chan has snuck aboard, meaning Dio is still alive. As JoJo comes face to face with Dio, who wants his body to replace his own, Erina arrives on the scene just as Jonathan receives a near-fatal attack to his neck. Meanwhile, the ship starts to run amock with zombies after Wang Chan spreads the infection. Using the last Hamon energy he has, Jonathan manages to decapitate Wang Chan, making his body obstruct a piece of the cruise ship's mechanism, setting the ship on a path to explosion. As Erina resolves to die by Jonathan's side, Jonathan instead tells her to live on so she can protect a baby whose mother was killed. As the ship starts to explode, Dio makes a last-ditch attempt to take Jonathan's body, but Jonathan stops him, passing away with Dio's head in his arms whilst Erina and the baby hide in Dio's bomb-proof coffin to protect them from the explosion. Erina is eventually rescued near the Canary Islands a day later, and vows to pass on the truth of what happened on that night, February 8, 1888, through the generations, starting with the child she conceived with Jonathan before his untimely death.

In 1938, 49 years after Jonathan Joestar's death, Speedwagon and Straizo travel to Mexico, where they discover tomb filled with Stone Masks and a petrified body believed to be the being who created them. However, Straizo takes one of the masks and wears it, killing all of Speedwagon's archaeological team and using Speedwagon's blood to activate it. Meanwhile, in New York, Jonathan's grandson, Joseph Joestar (also nicknamed "JoJo"), uses his Hamon to save a young pickpocket named Smokey Brown, who is then taken in by Erina. After dealing with a mafia henchman at a restaurant, Joseph, Erina, and Smokey meet a mafia acquaintance of Speedwagon's who informs them that Speedwagon has allegedly been killed by Straizo, with Erina realizing that the Stone Mask must somehow be involved. Later, Joseph is confronted by Straizo, who has come to kill the boy. However, Joseph makes the first move with a surprise and over-the-top tommy gun attack. He claims he is not taking revenge for Speedwagon's death, but is instead retaliating because Straizo made his grandmother cry. 
11 "The Game Master"[19]

As expected, Straizo recovers from Joseph's attack and uses the laser eye attack Dio used to seemingly pierce through Joseph's head and neck. However, this turns out to be a clever trick by Joseph, who manages to attack Straizo with the Hamon. Straizo manages to block it using a scarf woven from the shells of a rare beetle, but Joseph manages to sneak some grenades onto his person. Despite being blown apart, Straizo manages to pull himself back together, forcing Joseph and Smokey to retreat to the Brooklyn Bridge. As Straizo catches up with them, he takes a woman hostage in order to goad Joseph into facing him. Straizo once again attacks Joseph with his laser, but Joseph manages to reflect it back at him before striking him with the Hamon. As Joseph tries to get information out of him, Straizo reveals that he had not killed Speedwagon, but spirited his body away from the cave, as he realized the petrified man they had found was seemingly feeding off of the blood Straizo had spilled. Before Joseph can learn anymore, Straizo kills himself with his last remaining breath, activating the Hamon to destroy his own body. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Speedwagon is alive but he is being held captive in Mexico, where a German military general named Rudol von Stroheim interrogates him about the Pillar Man, which they have excavated from the cave and intend to revive. Joseph also makes his way to Mexico, unaware that he is being followed by a strange assassin. 
12 "The Pillar Man"[20]

Joseph is confronted by one of Stroheim's men, Donovan, but manages to subdue him, learning that Speedwagon is still alive. Meanwhile, Stroheim manages to awaken the Pillar Man by sacrificing several prisoners to flood the chamber with blood. Once the man awakes, Stroheim dubs him Santana. To test Santana, Stroheim sends a vampire after Santana, which he absorbs into his body to feed himself. To Stroheim's shock, Santana manages to escape his cell by twisting his body through the air vents and confronts him, quickly learning and killing Stroheim's men by mimicking their gunfire with the bullets they tried to shoot him with. Just then, Joseph, who had managed to sneak into the base (after a failed attempt at crossdressing), reveals himself and stands against Santana using his Hamon powers. 
13 "JoJo vs. the Ultimate Lifeform"[21]
"JoJo vs. Kyūkyoku Seibutsu" (JOJO vs. 究極生物) 		Shōgo YasukawaJanuary 4, 2013TBA
As JoJo begins to fight Santana, Joseph finds his Hamon to not be effective against him, but it still helps protect him from the Pillar Man's attacks. Joseph appears to be knocked unconscious after receiving a powerful hit, allowing Santana to absorb him. However, this is all part of Joseph's plan so he can use the Hamon inside of Santana's body, ripping him in half. Chaining his upper body, Joseph attempts to drag Santana into the sunlight in order to kill him, but Santana's absorbing flesh keeps him from reaching the top of the stairs. Stroheim steps in to try and open the door himself, but Sanatana ensnares his leg, as well. Stroheim gets Joseph to chop off his ensnared leg, allowing him to open the door and expose Santana to the sunlight. However, Santana avoids death by diving into Stroheim's body by means of the now open wound from his leg. Resolving to take both himself and Santana out, Stroheim informs JoJo of the other Pillar Men his forces have found in Europe, telling him to go to Rome to learn how to defeat them before using a grenade on himself to once again expose Santana to sunlight by destroying his own body. As Santana makes a last ditch attack at JoJo, driving both into a well, Joseph manages to defeat Santana by using the noon sunlight reflected in the well's water, turning Santana to stone. 
14 "Ultimate Warriors from Ancient Times"[22]
"Taiko kara Kita Kyūkyoku Senshi" (太古から来た究極戦士) 		Shōgo YasukawaJanuary 11, 2013TBA
Speedwagon brings statued remains of Santana to the headquarters of his foundation in Washington, D.C., where it is shown Santana is still alive, but his scientists are able to keep him dormant through the use of ultraviolet light. Remembering Stroheim's words that there are three more powerful Pillar Men somewhere in Europe, Speedwagon takes Joseph to Rome to meet Will Zeppeli's grandson, Caesar, who is also skilled in using the Hamon. As Caesar questions Joseph's abilities, he fights against him using his own Hamon abilities formed from clothes filled with soapy water, encasing Joseph in a bubble, but Joseph manages to break free using a sneak attack. As Caesar makes plans for Joseph and Speedwagon to be taken to see where the Pillar Men are being kept, one of the Pillar Men, Wamuu, breaks free, killing a group of German soldiers and awakening his masters, Kars and Esidisi. Upon discovering the site, Wamuu destroys half of Caesar's friend Mark's body simply by bumping into him as he is walking past. As Caesar is forced to use his Hamon to peacefully end Mark's suffering, he vows vengeance against the Pillar Men. 
15 "A Hero's Proof"[23]

Caesar engages Wamuu in battle for killing Mark, using his Bubble Launcher technique to surround the Pillar Man in Hamon enfused bubbles. Once Wamuu realizes he is facing a Hamon user, he uses his mysterious headgear to unleash a wind that bursts all of the bubbles. However, his attack is not yet over, as the movement created hundreds of miniature tornadoes that shred Caesar's skin, leaving him incapacitated and temporarily blinded in one eye. His boasts that he need not see to fight the Pillar Men amuses them, as Hamon users of two millennia past said the same things to them before they killed them. Kars and Esidisi head to the surface, allowing Wamuu to finish Caesar off as the only Hamon user left, only for Joseph to make himself known, proclaiming that he has developed his own special Hamon technique using a pair of clackers that he channels the Hamon through. Wamuu allows him to fight, slicing through his wrist to the artery to make the battle last only a minute to test Joseph's boast. Joseph's first attack, the Hamon Clacker Volley, appears to miss its mark, embedding a steel ball into a pillar behind Wamuu, but this is all part of a ploy to engage his other technique, the Clacker Boomerang, where he has thrown another Hamon empowered pair of clackers behind Wamuu, catching onto the original clacker, and actually landing a blow on Wamuu. Angered, Wamuu allows Joseph to continue to strike him with the clackers while he prepares his counter, the Holy Sandstorm. Wamuu claims his attack has been hindered by his eyesight and a pillar blocking Joseph, but Joseph is left barely alive. Playing dead, Joseph tries to run away, seemingly stranding Caesar and Speedwagon, but it is all a ploy to lure Wamuu away before he can kill the others. Joseph takes Wamuu on a mine cart ride through the ruins, intending to use a stick of dynamite to destroy him, but Wamuu anticipates these events and sends them flying, intending to kill Joseph for his insolence. However, Joseph proclaims that he could possibly be even stronger in a month's time, intriguing Wamuu, who decides to let Joseph live to get stronger with the Hamon in only a month, implanting a "Wedding Ring" in Joseph's body around his aorta that will release a deadly poison in 33 days' time, unless Joseph can get the antidote held in his lip piercing by killing him in battle. Esidisi, who has come to see what has been holding Wamuu up, also decides to enter in on the wager (after consuming the stick of dynamite before it explodes), implanting another poison-filled ring around Joseph's windpipe, with the antidote in his own nose piercing. Kars, however, passes on the game, and the Pillar Men leave in search of the Red Stone of Aja, and Joseph passes out from the strain of the battle. Caesar, who has been watching the whole time, realizes Joseph's resolve and promises to also get stronger with him. 
16 "Lisa Lisa, Hamon Coach"[24]

Wanting to teach Joseph to control his Hamon powers, Caesar takes him to Venice to meet his teacher, Lisa Lisa. Lisa Lisa orders Joseph to wear a mask that limits his breathing for the duration of his training so he can better focus his Hamon. To start their training, Lisa Lisa tasks Joseph and Caesar to climb the Hell Climb Pillar, a 24-meter pillar covered in oil, that they can only climb using Hamon or else they will starve to death at the pillar's foot. Observing Caesar's efforts, Joseph learns to climb up by focusing Hamon energy into just his fingertips. As the days pass as they struggle to climb, Joseph assumes there's an easy break when he spots a crack in the pillar, but this turns out to be a trap, causing the pillar to start spewing oil at high pressures from its 20-meter mark. Caesar manages to break through the barrier by using Hamon energy to simultaneously grip the pillar with his feet and repel the barrier, eventually reaching the peak. Joseph eventually manages to get past by travelling across the barrier to its weakest point so he can leap over it. As Joseph ends up running out of breath at the last meter, Caesar helps him up. As Joseph becomes pleased with the results of his training, now able to keep a glass of water from spilling when held completely upside down, and asks for the next test, Lisa Lisa brings in her servants, Messina and Loggins, to teach them how to master the Hamon over the next few weeks. 
17 "The Deeper Plan"[25]

Lisa Lisa explains to Joseph and Caesar how the creator of the Stone Mask, Kars, is seeking a perfectly cut Red Stone of Aja known as the Super Aja to power the Stone Mask and become the ultimate lifeform. When her assistant Suzi Q comes in with a ruby necklace, Lisa Lisa reveals she herself possesses the Super Aja, capable of amplifying the light of the sun into a powerful beam. Joseph says they should destroy the stone, but Lisa Lisa reveals that even though Kars seeks it out the Super Aja is needed to defeat the Pillar Men, as well. With a week left until the rings inside Joseph dissolve and kill him, Lisa Lisa pits JoJo and Caesar against Loggins and Messina respectively for their final lesson. However, when Joseph reaches his destination, he finds Loggins has already been killed by Esidisi. Angered, Joseph decides to confront Esidisi over a bed of spikes. Thanks to an intricate trap, Joseph manages to use a wire set-up on Loggins to sever Esidisi's arm. However, Esidisi manages to repair himself by taking Loggins' arm before attacking Joseph with his Mode, his ability to control the temperature of his burning blood. Despite nearly falling for a trap himself, Joseph manages to ensnare Esidisi in Hamon-conductive wool thread and hits him with the Hamon, managing to destroy him and retrieve his antidote, safely dissolving the ring around his neck, with only six days left until Wamuu's "Wedding Ring" dissolves. Relieved, Joseph heads back to the castle, unaware that Esidisi's brain is clinging onto his back. 
18 "Von Stroheim's Revenge"[26]

As Joseph awaits to warn Lisa Lisa about the Pillar Men, Esidisi's brain takes over the body of Suzi Q and sends the Super Aja off on a boat bound for Venice before confronting Lisa Lisa. Before Joseph and Caesar can pursue the boat, Esidisi stands in their way, knowing full well they cannot kill him without killing Suzi Q as well. As Esidisi prepares to use his boiling blood to kill everyone in the room, Joseph and Caesar combine their Hamon in opposing forces, forcing Esidisi's brain out of Suzi Q without killing her and into the sunlight, where he burns into nothingness. After healing Suzi Q, Lisa Lisa learns from her that the Red Stone has been sent to St. Moritz in Switzerland, where Kars and Wamuu are waiting. Joseph promises Suzi Q that he will see her again before he, Caesar, Lisa Lisa, and Messina head off to catch up to the mail train bound for Switzerland. Upon catching up to the train at customs, the Germans arrive and claim the Red Stone of Aja for themselves, inviting Joseph and the others to join them at their lodge. As Kars appears to attack the lodge, Joseph learns that the leader of the German group is none other than Stroheim, who has since become a cyborg. 
19 "A Race Towards the Brink"[27]
"Shi no Gake e Tsuppashire" (死の崖へつっ走れ) 		Shinichi InotsumeFebruary 15, 2013TBA
Stroheim starts using his new mechanical body, which was designed to surpass Santana, to fight against Kars. However, it proves futile against Kars' Light Mode, a series of jagged blades on his arm-blades that move so fast in a chainsaw motion that they radiate light, which literally cuts him down to size. As Kars attempts to retrieve the Red Stone of Aja, Stroheim fires a beam of ultraviolet light at him, sending the Red Stone sliding towards a cliff edge, forcing JoJo and Kars to chase after it. Joseph pulls off a trick to grab the stone, but Kars pulls him off the cliff with him, claiming he will take his revenge for Esidisi's death. Joseph manages to save himself by using the Red Stone as a shield and prevents his fall by chaining a series of icicles together, only saved because Caesar has begun to think like Joseph and prepared the other end of the chain for him. Kars lands safely, laughing menacingly before heading to his daytime hideout. The next day, Caesar and the others discuss ambushing an abandoned hotel that they believe is Kars' hideout before Wamuu arrives from where he is waiting for Joseph elsewhere in Europe. However, Joseph, tense over the ring around his heart dissolving in five day's time and now Kars' vow of revenge, objects to the plan, believing it unwise to fight on their home turf. Caesar gets upset, claiming it is their blood vow to kill the creators of the Stone Masks, but Joseph tells him they should not dwell on the past, leading to a fist fight. Lisa Lisa and Messina calm them down, and Lisa Lisa decides that Joseph is right, but Caesar will not hear of it and heads to the hotel by himself. Lisa Lisa orders Messina to follow Caesar, taking him back by force if he gets too close, before telling Joseph a little more about Caesar's past. 
20 "Young Caesar"[28]

Lisa Lisa tells Joseph of Caesar's childhood, in which he took to crime at a young age after being abandoned by his debt-ridden father, Mario. However, when Caesar turned 16, Caesar came across the wall containing the Pillar Men, which was booby trapped by Kars. Mario saved Caesar from the trap, getting absorbed into the wall, but lived long enough to tell Caesar find Lisa Lisa and learn the Hamon. As Caesar arrives at the hotel, he is attacked by Wamuu, who is using his Wind Mode, utilizing streams of moist air to both protect him from the sunlight and reflect the light around him. Caesar launches an attack on Wamuu after he drags Messina into the hotel, but Wamuu manages to retreat inside the hotel, prompting Caesar to go in after him. Using his new Bubble Cutter attack, a series of refractive bubble lenses, Caesar manages to redirect the sunlight inside the hotel to pin down Wamuu. However, Wamuu takes advantage of the split-second the sun is blotted by Caesar's attack to deliver a critical counter attack. Too injured to continue for the fight, Caesar uses the last of his strength to steal the piercing containing the antidote for the ring around Joseph's heart. He then uses his Final Hamon to create a blood bubble to deliver the piercing and his bandana to Joseph before being crushed by the collapsing ceiling. Wamuu, finding Caesar's fight and loyalty to be admirable, allows the bubble to remain. Joseph and Lisa Lisa are attracted to the hotel after Messina does not return, and unknowingly see the light of Caesar's Final Hamon. They discover the state of the hotel, finding the bubble with the antidote and Caesar's scarf, and soon realize that Caesar has died, and weep over the loss of their friend and ally. 
21 "A Hundred Against Two"[29]
"Hyaku tai Ni no Kakehiki" (100対2のかけひき) 		Shōgo YasukawaMarch 1, 2013TBA
Whilst following Wamuu's trail of blood, Joseph and Lisa Lisa encounter another vampire named Wired Beck, but Lisa Lisa manages to defeat him easily using her Hamon-empowered scarf. As they press on, Joseph states he will not take the antidote he received until he has beaten Wamuu as a promise to Caesar. They soon arrive before Wamuu, where Kars is also waiting for them, along with a hundred vampire minions. Lisa Lisa manages to hold off their attack with a bluff saying that if both she and JoJo are killed, a time bomb will destroy the Red Stone of Aja. Thus, she proposes that Joseph fights against Wamuu whilst she fights against Kars with the Red Stone on the line. Wamuu and Kars arrange a place for the battle at midnight, keeping Lisa Lisa as insurance to make sure Joseph brings the Red Stone. Whilst retrieving the Red Stone, Joseph finds a picture of his grandmother Erina from fifty years ago, becoming curious as to why Lisa Lisa would have it. Upon meeting at the arena, Lisa Lisa reveals that she was the baby that Erina rescued from the ship that fateful day 50 years ago, further explaining how she was raised by Straizo, who was the one who taught her about the Hamon and gave her the Red Stone. As Joseph and Wamuu's battle is revealed to be a chariot race using vampire horses, easily controlled by JoJo through reigns that conduct the Hamon, Joseph puts on Caesar's bandana and prepares to battle. 
22 "A True Warrior"[30]
"Shin no Kakutōsha" (真の格闘者) 		Shinichi InotsumeMarch 8, 2013TBA
Before Joseph's and Wamuu's race begins, it is revealed that during each lap, there will be a different weapon for whoever can grab it from a pillar first. Joseph manages to get a headstart by obstructing Wamuu's wheels with rubble, after claiming he was keeping it away from his own chariot, allowing him to get hold of the first weapon, a sledgehammer. However, Wamuu grabs hold of the pillar itself, forcing Joseph to abandon his chariot, though Joseph manages to use the hammer to avoid getting trampled by Wamuu's horses. Wamuu launches an attack on Joseph by hiding in his horse, but Joseph manages to use his cunning to turn his Holy Sandstorm attack against him with the Hamon. In order to regain his focus, Wamuu gouges out his own eyes and grows a horn that can sense the wind in its place. As the second lap offers a pair of crossbows, Joseph ends up picking one that is too big for him to use whilst Wamuu uses the wind to guide his shots with the smaller crossbow, managing to hit Joseph's sides with a reflected shot. As he is thrown to the ground, he uses the momentum of the fall to cock his crossbow without the others noticing. Joseph appears cornered, but manages to hit Wamuu with a Hamon-charged shot from his crossbow by distracting his senses with pebbles. Wamuu makes a desperate last attack by firing his severed arms at Joseph to cut off his breathing before gathering up wind for his Final Mode. 
23 "The Warrior of Wind"[31]
"Kaze ni Kaeru Senshi" (風にかえる戦士) 		Kazuyuki FudeyasuMarch 15, 2013TBA
Launching his Final Mode attack, Gathering Gale, which starts peeling away his own body, Wamuu begins firing a stream of wind capable of cutting stone towards Joseph. After a failed attempt at attacking him with a firebomb, Joseph strikes at Wamuu with Caesar's flaming bandana, which Wamuu shreds with his wind. However, this is all part of Joseph's plan, as both the oil from the bomb and the burning embers of Caesar's bandana have been breathed in by Wamuu, causing him to explode from the inside. Deciding Wamuu's wounds from the Hamon are fatal, Joseph gives him some of his blood to ease his passing as a sign of respect, similar to the respect Wamuu showed Caesar. When the other vampires suddenly attack, Wamuu uses the last of his strength to kill them, not wanting them to interfere until the end. Upon Wamuu's request, Joseph drinks the antidote from his ring, allowing Wamuu to pass away with no regrets. It is soon time for Lisa Lisa's battle with Kars, with Kars removing his headgear, revealing his long flowing hair. When their match begins, Lisa Lisa seems to have the upper hand with her Hamon-conducting scarf. However, they soon discover that Kars does not have the same warrior's pride as Wamuu, having used a vampire to act as his body double before he stabs Lisa Lisa with one of his Light Mode blades from behind. After claiming the Red Stone of Aja for himself, Kars sends his vampire army after the weakened Joseph. However, he is rescued by Stroheim and his men, along with Speedwagon and Smokey, who use ultraviolet lights to fight off the vampires whilst JoJo goes to face Kars. As Kars uses a weakened Lisa Lisa to force JoJo into a vulnerable position, dangling her unconscious body over a bed of sharp crystals, Smokey realizes that Joseph does not yet know that Lisa Lisa is in fact his mother. 
24 "The Ties That Bind JoJo"[32]
"JoJo o Musubu Kizuna" (JOJOを結ぶ絆) 		Yasuko KobayashiMarch 22, 2013TBA
Being forced to cling onto a rope to stop Lisa Lisa from falling to her death, Joseph is at a huge disadvantage against Kars. Feeling he has a plan, Joseph sets his scarf on fire, stating he will finish Kars off before it fully burns. Kars then cuts the rope in the hope of sending both Joseph and Lisa Lisa to their deaths, but falls into a snare laid out by Joseph, who hits him with a Hamon attack and knocks him down into the sharp crystals below. As Joseph rescues Lisa Lisa, Speedwagon explains to Smokey how Lisa Lisa, her real name being Elisabeth, was brought up by Straizo who taught her the ways of the Hamon. She later met and was courted by Jonathan and Erina's son George Joestar II, with their marriage resulting in the birth of their child Joseph. George II ultimately joined the Royal Air Force, battling in the Great War as an ace fighter pilot. However, a zombie who had survived the death of Dio and the destruction of the first Stone Mask soon sought vengeance for Dio's death, staying alive by eating people whole, not even leaving bones behind. He ultimately disguised himself as a high-ranking RAF officer and arranged a meeting with George II, who discovered the trap too late. George II may have had some latent talent for the Hamon like his father and son, but he had no training and was easily killed by the zombie. When Elisabeth discovered the treachery, she hunted down the zombie and easily killed him with her Hamon powers, but she was caught in the act by an RAF official who thought she murdered a human in cold blood and burned the body to hide the evidence. Wanted throughout all of Europe, Elisabeth became a fugitive until she met with Speedwagon once more, using his foundation's resources erase all trace of her past, and placing her on Venice's Saplena Island where she changed her name to Lisa Lisa. Upon learning of the events, Erina began raising Joseph on her own, and asked Speedwagon to make sure that the young Joseph never learned the truth of the events that had unfolded so he may never learn the Hamon and have such a terrible fate befall him as had happened to the rest of her family. With Speedwagon's story over, Stroheim attempts to finish off Kars with multiple blasts of ultraviolet beam, but Kars suddenly puts on the Stone Mask with the Red Stone of Aja in place. Before Stroheim can call off the attack, the artificial sunlight from all the German soldiers and Speedwagon Foundation operatives channels through the Super Aja, activating the Stone Mask and sending its undiluted energy into Kars, who undergoes a dramatic transformation. 
25 "The Birth of a Superbeing!!"[33]
"Chō Seibutsu no Tanjō!!" (超生物の誕生!!) 		Yasuko KobayashiMarch 29, 2013TBA
Kars demonstrates his new powers, turning his hand into a flesh-eating squirrel that deals damage to Stroheim. The sun rises, killing the rest of the vampire minions, but Kars remains standing, immune thanks to the power of the stone. Joseph grabs the stone and runs off with Smokey to lure Kars away from the others whilst thinking of a plan. Leaving Smokey behind before he can tell him about Lisa Lisa, Joseph boards a plane to lure Kars away further. Joseph theorises he may be able to beat Kars if he drops him into a volcano and heads towards a volcanic island. As Speedwagon attempts to stop Joseph by telling him about Lisa Lisa, the feathers that Kars had launched on JoJo's plane turn into pirahnas which cause the plane to start crashing. Joseph uses his parachute to lure Kars into the path of the plane as it heads towards the volcano's crater. Kars attempts to escape but Stroheim arrives to stop him, rescuing Joseph from the plane before it crashes into the lava, which starts melting Kars. Joseph and Stroheim believe they have finally won, as Kars is now being defeated by the very Earth that birthed him. 
26 "The Ascendant One"[34]

Joseph's victory is shortlived when Kars emerges from the lava unharmed, having formed an insulating shell around him, and in one swift movement he slices off Joseph's hand. Kars reveals that he and other Pillar Men were part of a fourth race of humanity living underground, which he exterminated when they retaliated against his thirst for power and the creation of the Stone Masks. Joseph attempts to fight back, but Kars has discovered how to use the Hamon himself, at a higher potency that harms Joseph as if he were a Pillar Man. Just as Kars prepares to deliver the coup de grace, Joseph subconsciously holds up the Red Stone of Aja just as Kars strikes. The energy causes the volcano to erupt, launching them both into the sky. Kars plans on escaping with his wings, but Joseph's gloating distracts him enough such that his severed arm flies up and grabs him, throwing Kars into the path of other debris which push Kars out of the Earth's atmosphere. Kars tries in vain to return to the Earth to take his revenge on Joseph, but the vacuum of space initiates one last evolutionary response by turning him into a chunk of ice. Drifting forever in the void, the immortal Kars eventually stopped thinking entirely. Back on the Earth, Joseph accepts that everything is finally over and he loses consciousness as the chunk of rock plummets back to the ocean. Stroheim watches on in horror, and later reports back to Speedwagon. On February 28, 1939, Joseph Joestar is pronounced dead.

Weeks later, Erina, Lisa Lisa, Smokey, Speedwagon, and Messina pay their final respects to Joseph, when he walks up behind his grandmother to surprise her, wondering why no one bothered to meet him at the airport. Everyone is shocked, and he reveals that he survived the fall and landed near Venice, where Suzi Q, his new wife, nursed him back to health, and Stroheim even fitted him with a new prosthetic hand. However, Suzi Q forgot to tell everyone that he was not dead, infuriating him.

Years later, Joseph, Suzi Q, and Lisa Lisa, after revealing that she is his mother Elisabeth, move to the United States, where Elisabeth marries, again, to a Hollywood screenwriter. Erina lives out the rest of her life teaching at an elementary school, dying in 1950 at the age of 81. Speedwagon dedicates the rest of his life and fortune to researching medicine and science, dying of a heart attack in 1952 at the age of 89, having never married. Smokey Brown pays his way through college and studies political science, ultimately becoming the first black mayor of his hometown in Georgia. Stroheim never sees Joseph, again, and dies an honorable death on the frontlines at the Battle of Stalingrad.

In 1987, a 67-year-old Joseph lashes out at a Japanese tourist at JFK Airport, still sore that his beloved daughter moved to Japan after marrying a Japanese man, before he flies out to Tokyo to see her. Four years earlier, a strange coffin is salvaged from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Canary Islands, engraved with the name "DIO". Back in the present in Tokyo, a young man wearing a school uniform and cap sits in a jail cell, an ominous aura about him.
