Biography

Jett Rebel grew up in Baarn.[1] From early on he has shown an extraordinary interest in music. Before he turned ten, he was able to play drums, piano and guitar.[1] While he was attending the Baarnsch Lyceum, a secondary school, he stood out by winning the 'Grandi Art', a school competition for music, as a pop musician for consecutive years. During that period he performed with a series of bands that gained local fame, including Bitter Lemon, Fubroz, The Zoo and Metro Mortale.[1]

After his secondary school he moved to Amsterdam to study piano and guitar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In that period he has played in pop groups, including The Souldiers and Valerius.[1] In September 2012, Jelte Tuinstra decided to make his own music under the name of Jett Rebel.[1] In spring 2013 his first EP was released entitled Venus, at the end of the same year the next EP, Mars, was released. The three singles that were released from these EPs were enthusiastically received and played by 3FM and other radio stations. He performed live in the television programs Toppop3, De Wereld Draait Door and Serious Request, in the supporting program of the B-52's and was proclaimed by radio station Radio 3FM as 3FM Serious Talent. At the start of 2014, his single Tonight became at the same radio station the 3FM Megahit. He also wrote a bonus track for the movie the Amazing Spider-Man 2.[2]

Studio recordings and live performances

Jett Rebel writes his own music and also takes care of arrangements, production and recordings, whereby he provides the vocals and plays the instruments. When he performs live he is accompanied by a band composed of Rick van Wort (drums), Xander Vrienten (bass guitar and vocals), Amber Gomaa (keyboard and vocals), Jessica Manuputty (vocals) and Lorijn "Lexxus" von piekartz (guitar).[1] Jett Rebel himself sings and plays the piano and guitar. He also performs solo, as he did at the Songbird Festival 2013 in Rotterdam. In March 2014 Jett Rebel received three nominations for the 3FM Awards and an Edison Award in the category 'Best newcomer'.[6] In April 2014 he actually won the 3FM Serious Talent Award 2014.[7] He received the prize from 3FM DJ Domien Verschuuren during a special broadcasting with all the nominated Serious Talents. He also won the 3FM award for being the best newcomer.[7]
