Jenny Lavigne (born February 2, 1985, in Lac-au-Saumon, Quebec) is a Canadian ice hockey player. Lavigne is a goaltender and member of Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). She was also a member of the Montreal Axion in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).

Playing career

At the beginning

Lavigne began playing ice hockey at the age of nine years. She perfected her skills of goaltender by playing with boys. Golden medal-holder in the 2000 Quebec Games (Jeux du Québec in French language) of with the men's team of Bas-St-Laurent region. She is fished up in 2002 by the Rimouski Océanic, within her LHJMQ, and participates in their training camp in 2002 and in 2003. She also plays the senior level male AA in 2003-2004 with the Prédateurs de Mont-Joli^[1]

Concordia Stingers

Lavigne plays five seasons (from 2000 till 2005) for them Concordia Stingers women's ice hockey in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey championship (CIS). She helps Concordia Stingers to participate in the national university tournaments in 3 times: 2000-01, 2001–02 and 2004-05.^[2]

Montreal Axion

In 2004-05 Season, she joins Montreal Axion.^[3] As player substitute, she learns a lot by training a duet with the goaltender Charline Labonté. Lavigne participates a conquest of the championship of the NWHL (season 2005-06). At the 2006-07 season, Montreal Axion surrenders to Championship finale but loses 4-0 against the Brampton Thunder.^[4] In the grip of financial difficulties, the NWHL stops its activities in summer 2007.

Montreal Stars

During the creation of the Canadian national women's hockey team (CWHL), Lavigne joins the Montreal Stars. She is member of the team since 2007-08 and helps the Stars to take gain 4 championships and two Clarkson Cup.^[5] During the 2010-11 season, she guards the goal during 9 matches for the Stars, by gaining 7 matches with an average of 2.51.^[6] During the 2011-12 season by Kim St-Pierre's absence, Lavigne becomes the number one Goaltender of the Stars.

In round robin play at the 2012 Clarkson Cup, Lavigne helped the Stars win their first two games by posting two consecutive shutouts (a 7-0 victory over the Toronto Furies, and a 2-0 win over the Brampton Thunder).^[7] She was the starting goaltender for the Montreal Stars in the championship game of the 2012 Clarkson Cup. In the second period, she stopped Brampton’s Jayna Hefford who found the puck alone in front of the Stars net.

Sélection du Québec

Lavigne is chosen as no 1 Goaltender as the Quebec Provincial Team and take gain a silver medal in 2002 Canada Games. She is awarded a bronze medal in the 2005 Canadian Championship held in Sarnia, Ontario.^[8] And win a silver medal in the 2006 Esso National Championship at Sydney, Nova Scotia,

Personal

Lavigne is policewoman for the City of Châteauguay since 2008.^[9] Known for Québécois hockey supporters as one of the competitors of La série Montréal-Québec 2011 broadcast on the television channel TVA.^[10] She helps the team of Quebec City to gain the victorious trophy.^[11]
