Jean Woods

Jean Joseph Emond Woods (1850 – 1928) was a physician and politician in Quebec who served as mayor of Aylmer from 1898 to 1900.[1]

Early life

The son of John Robert Woods and Zoé Desautels, he studied medicine at McGill University, graduating in 1875.

Personal life

Woods married Corrine Bourgeois in 1883. In the same year, he build a house on the main street in Aylmer that also served as his office.

Public office

In 1885, he was named a public vaccinator and the medical officer by the Aylmer Board of Health. In 1918, he was named inspector of prisons and asylums for Quebec, at which point, he moved to Lachine.

Death

He died in Lachine in 1928.[1]
