Jane Winstone

Jane Winstone (1912–1944) was a New Zealand aviator. She was born in Wanganui, New Zealand in 1912.[1] Jane was at one time the youngest female solo pilot in New Zealand, having held he pilot's licence since the age of 16.[2] She died on service on 10 February 1944 flying for the Air Transport Auxiliary when her Spitfires's Merlin engine failed.[1] Her Fiance, also a RNZAF airman had died two years earlier on air operations.
