Jaime R. Harrison (born 1975 or 1976) is an American political operative and lobbyist. He is the Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party.

From Orangeburg, South Carolina, Harrison was born to a single teenage mother and raised by his mother and his grandparents.[1] He graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School,[2] Yale University,[1] and Georgetown University Law Center.[3] Harrison became involved in politics, working for Jim Clyburn as his floor director of operations while Clyburn was the Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives.[4] He also works as a lobbyist for the Podesta Group.[1][5] Harrison served as executive director of the House Democratic Caucus and the Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party.[3]

In May 2013, Harrison became the first African American to chair the South Carolina Democratic Party.[1][6] He is a candidate for Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee in the 2017 election.[7][8]

Despite their political rivalry, Harrison is friends with Matt Moore, the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. The two co-taught a course at the University of South Carolina during the fall semester of 2015.[9]

Harrison and his wife, Marie Boyd, live in Columbia, South Carolina.[4]
