(Ann) Jacqueline Hunter PhD[5] CBE FMedSci is Professor at St George's Hospital Medical School and CEO of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.[4][7][8]

Education

Hunter was educated at Kings School[9] and completed her Bachelor of Science degree and PhD[5] in Psychology at Bedford College, London which is now part of Royal Holloway, University of London. Her PhD thesis was on the psychology of owl monkeys (genus Aotus).[5]

Career

Following her PhD, Hunter undertook a Wellcome Trust Postdoctoral research fellowship at St George’s Hospital Medical School before joining the pharmaceutical industry where she worked for 25 years for GSK, Proximagen and OI Pharma Partners.[3][4][10][11][12][13][14][15] She became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the BBSRC in 2013.[7][16][17]

Awards

Hunter was awarded the CBE for services to the pharmaceutical industry in the 2010 Birthday Honours. She is also a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci) in 2014.[6]
