JCSAT-17 is a geostationary communications satellite ordered by SKY Perfect JSAT Group to be designed and manufactured by Lockheed Martin on the A2100 platform with a 15 year design life.[2][1] Its payload is composed of S band transponders with a flexible processor that will allow it to redirect capacity to concentrate on disaster relief efforts or other high-volume events.[3]

History

On Feb. 3, 2016, Lockheed Martin announced that it had been awarded a contract by SKY Perfect JSAT Group to manufacture JCSAT-17. It would have a flexible S band payload and a 15 year design life.[3]
