J. P. Metras Trophy

J. P. Metras Trophy is awarded to the Outstanding Down Lineman in CIS football. Initiated in 1974, the Centennial Year of Canadian University Football, the award is in recognition of the achievements of John Pius Metras who, for 30 years as head coach of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs, established a lifetime record of 106 victories, 76 losses and 11 ties, including 9 league championships.[1] The American equivalent to the J.P. Metras Trophy is the Rotary Lombardi Award.
