Oh Ji-Min (born May 27, 1988), commonly stylized and known by her stage name J-Min, is a South Korean singer and musical actress active in South Korea and Japan. She currently has a contract with Japan label music, EMI Records (formerly known as Nayutawave Records), which is a division of Universal Music. J-Min fluently speaks Japanese and English along with her native Korean.

Career

2007–09: Debut

J-Min made her debut with the mini-album Korogaru Ringo on September 12, 2007.

On January 16, 2008 J-Min's second Japanese mini-album Dream On.. was released. Following Dream On, the cover Japanese album "The Singer" was released on November 19.

J-Min released her first Japanese single Change/One on May 27, 2009. It was her last release under Avex Trax.

2012–13: If You Want and Heart Theatre

J-Min released an original soundtrack for another drama in 2012. She released the first soundtrack titled "Hello, Love" for KBS2's drama Wild Romance on January 30. The second soundrack titled "시공천 애" was released for MBC's drama God of War on April 13. The third soundtrack titled "Can't Say It" was released for MBC's drama The King 2 Hearts on April 27. The fourth soundtrack titled "Story" was released for KBS2's drama Sent from Heaven in July 2. The fifth soundtrack titled "Stand Up" was released for SBS's drama To the Beautiful You on August 15. She made her first performance with the song "Stand Up" on SBS's Inkigayo alongside with TRAX's Jungmo who played the guitar.[1] Her last participation soundtrack in 2012 titled "Beautiful Days" was release to KBS2's drama School 2013 on December 11.

In June 2012, J-Min starred in the musical 'Jack the Ripper' as 'Gloria'.The musical ran from 1 June to 17 August 2012 at Chungmu Art Hall in Seoul.

J-Min contract expired with Avex Trax in 2012 later she signed Nayutawave Records (now also known EMI Records) for her Japan promotion and released her new single If You Want on November 21, 2012 under the label. followed, Heart Theater on March 13, 2013.

In February 2013, J-Min starred in the musical 'The Three Musketeer' as 'Constance'. It ran from 20 February to 21 April 2013 at Chungmu Art Hall in Seoul.[2]

2014–present: Cross The Border, Korean debut and Musical

J-Min's Japanese album Cross The Border was released on January 21, 2014, with the title track "Sorry".

J-Min recorded the soundtrack Hero for MBC's drama Miss Korea. On June 19, J-Min made her official debut stage in Korea with the performance of Hoo on the music program M Countdown and various weekly music program. Her pre-released single, Hoo was digitally released on June 24.[3]Hoo is an acoustic ballad and a re-arrangement of Hero, the soundtrack for the drama Miss Korea. J-Min released her debut EP, Shine digitally on July 18 and physically on July 21.[4] The music video featured Titan and SM Rookies' Ji Han Sol.

In 2015, J-Min played 'Vanessa' in the musical In The Heights. She alternated the role with actress Oh Soyeon. The musical was produced by SM C&C, a subsidiary of S.M. Entertainment, and ran from September 4 to November 22 at 'Blue Square'.[5] In December, 2015 J-Min confirmed will be playing 'Yitzhak' in the musical Hedwig: New Makeup. The musical will run from March 1, 2016 to May 29, 2016 at Hongik University Art Center.[6]

J-Min released a digital single Way Back Home on July 8, as part of SM Entertainment's project SM Station. The song was composed by Sim Eunjee and the music video is starring Red Velvet's Yeri.[7] She performed this song for first time on SM Town Live World Tour V in Osaka.

On August 5, 2016 SM Entertainment announced that she will be releasing her new digital single which consists of title track Ready For Your Love and Korean version of Song On My Guitar, a single from her first Japanese album, on August 9.[8] The music video for Ready For Your Love was released on SMTOWN's official Youtube channel on August 8, starring J-Min and SM Rookies' Johnny Seo.[9] On October 15, J-Min was confirmed to become radio host on Arirang Radio's SoundK for "musictomusic" corner.
