Izates I

Izates I or also considered to be Izates II, was king of Adiabene around the year 15 AD. Very little is known about him with any degree of certainty. He was the son of Helena of Adiabene and Monobaz I (Flavius Josepus, Antiquities of the Jews, Book 20, Chapter 2 et seq.).

Theories

Some scholars theorize the story told about Izates in the writings of Flavius Josephus and Izate himself is the real story of Jesus of Nazareth. This theory is widely non-existent as well as never considered for topic of discussion in studies of antiquity. The few individuals who feel strongly on the legitimacy of this controversial theory say simply that all one need do is to read the writings of Josephus (starting in Chapter 3) and with the story of Jesus in mind, as well as keeping an open mind, the few scholars• say that's all it took to convince them.
