Ivan Šijan

Ivan Šijan (Zagreb, June 2, 1990) is a professional Croatian ice-hockey player who currently plays for KHL Medveščak of the Erste Bank Icehockey League (EBEL).[1] He is one of the youngest and physically strongest defensive EBEL player. Ivan is largely known for his defensive play and heavy body checking on his opponents.

Early life

Ivan was born in Zagreb to Zoran and Tanja, as second son, Zoran is a taxi driver and Tanja is a housewife. His older brother Igor has never been interested in sports, but he was his biggest support in life and hockey. Growing up in capital of Croatia he was fan of Dynamo Moscow and idolized Ilya Kovalchuk. As hyperactive 4 years old his mother decided to sign him up in local hockey team KHL Medveščak.
