Israel competed in the EuroBasket 1979, the 21st FIBA EuroBasket, Israel’s twelfth time competing, and finished second. This marked Israel’s first medal at the EuroBasket, with winning the silver. In addition, an Israeli competitor won the MVP award for the first time, won by Miki Berkovich.[1]
