Career

Ishod Wair was born on November 1, 1991, and began skateboarding in Bordentown, New Jersey, at the age of nine years old. Over the next few years he began to consolidate other activities such as basketball in favor of focusing solely on his skateboarding career. In 2009, Wair, now 18, attended the Tampa Am, an amateur skateboarding contest held in Tampa, Florida, placing 18th out of 36 skaters who qualified for the semi-finals. Despite not qualifying for the finals or winning the contest overall, the Tampa Am catalyzed his career in part due to his performance in the competition as well as handing out DVD's promoting his skating abilities to attendees at the competition, focusing particularly on those who represented professional teams.

Both of these acts contributed greatly to his early success as the skateboard company he currently rides for professionally, Real Skateboards, discovered his talent on that same day. Real Skateboards subsequently provided free skateboards to him for over a year, eventually officially adding him to their amateur team. Real Skateboards turned Wair pro in 2011 and he continues to ride for the company today.[1] His other sponsors include Nike, Thunder Trucks, Spitfire Wheels, Fourstar, Anthony's Cookies, Stance Socks, Monster Energy Drink, Diamond, Shake Junt, Bones Swiss, Epoke Eyewear and Exit Skateshop. In 2013, skateboarding magazine Thrasher named Wair their Skater of the Year (SOTY) after he released four video parts.[2] In 2015 he made his first appearance at a Super Crown event, finishing second - beating out competition consisting of some of the most top-ranked professionals in the industry.[3]
