Isabel García Tejerina (Valladolid, 9 October 1968) is a Spanish politician who is a member of the PP. She has been General Secretary of Agriculture and Feeding of Spain in two periods: of April 2000 to April 2004 and of February 2012 to April 2014. From 4 november 2016, she has the charge of Minister of Agriculture, Fishers, Food and Environment of the Government of Spain.

Biography

García Tejerina studied in the School The Education of Valladolid, pertaining to the Company of María. She is engineer agronomist by the Polytechnical University of Madrid and graduate in Right by the University of Valladolid. Account, besides, with both a Masters in European Communities by the Polytechnical University of Madrid and in Agricultural Economy by the University of California in Davis.

She spent most of her political career in the Ministry of Agriculture, first as adviser of the ministers Loyola of Palace, Jesús Posed and Miguel Arias Cañete, and later as General Secretary of Agriculture and Feeding in the ministerial body, in two stages: of 2000 to 2004 and of 2012 to 2014.[1]

She was director of strategic planning of the company Fertiberia between 2004 and 2012 and in this same period, adviser of the Algerian mercantile company of fertilizantes Fertial S.P.To.[1] On 28 April 2014 she was appointed minister of Agriculture in replacement of Miguel Arias Cañete, that was appointed European Parliament and Commissioner of Energy of the European Union.[2][1]
