Ioannis "Gaga" Gagaloudis (alternate spellings: Yannis, Giannis, Gagaloudes, Gkagkaloudis) (Greek: Γιάννης Γκαγκαλούδης; born August 22, 1978) is a Greek professional basketball player.[1] He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3¾ in) tall and 86 kg (190 lbs.) in weight. Born in Athens, Greece, he can play at both the point guard and shooting guard positions.

Professional career

Born in Athens in 1978, Gagaloudis started his career with Paleo Faliro.[2] In 1999 he moved to top-tier team Dafni where he stayed for two seasons.[2] Gagaloudis won the 2003 FIBA EuroCup Challenge with Aris, and a Greek Basket League championship with Panathinaikos, in 2004. After 2 years with PAOK, and following contract offers from Italian and Spanish teams, Gagaloudis signed with AEK Athens in October 2006.[3] In August 2007, Gagaloudis was the first signing of Rethymno for the club's first season in the Greek Basket League.[4] In January 2008, he signed for Euroleague team Virtus Roma,[5] but he was released a month later after appearing in only three games scoring 4.0 points per game.[6] In February 2012 he left Maroussi, due to the club's financial problems, for financial Gagaloudis signed for Cypriot team Apollon Limassol.[7] After the conclusion of the season in Cyprus, Gagaloudis signed for Kavala for a second time in his career to play for the team in the 2012–2013 season.[8] In January 2013 accepted an offer from Étoile Sportive du Sahel of the Tunisian Division I Basketball League.[9] He helped his team win both the league and the cup.[10]

Gagaloudis signed for Livadeia in the Greek A2 in November 2014.[11] He was named the league's MVP in 2015,[12] as he averaged 21.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game.[13] In June 2015, he renewed his contract with Livadeia for the next season.[14] Gagaloudis was the leading scored of the league,[15] and led his team in scoring, assists, steals and three-pointers made, averaging 22.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game.[16] Despite his performances, Gagaloudis' contract was terminated by mutual consent on 18 April 2016.[17][18] According to a sports website, the contract was terminated because Gagaloudis congratulated opponent Georgios Apostolidis for scoring the buzzer beater against Livadeia.[19] On 19 July 2016, Gagaloudis signed for Iraklis Thessaloniki of the Greek A2.[20]
