Nick Miller, better known by his stage name Illenium (often stylized as ILLENIUM), is an American musician, DJ and producer.

Background

Miller was born in San Francisco.[1] He began making electronic dance music in early 2008. In the summer of 2012, after seeing Bassnectar perform a show at Red Rocks, Miller became passionate about working on his first release, noting that, "when I saw him, I got the Ableton the next day."[2]

Music career

In 2013, Illenium made his official debut with the release of his self-titled EP. The EP was released through the Los Angeles-based Prep School Recordings record label.[3]

In 2016, Illenium launched record label Kasaya Recordings in tandem with Seeking Blue.[4] On February 15, 2016, Illenium released his debut studio album, Ashes[5] as a free download via Kasaya Recordings and Mr. Suicide Sheep's label, Seeking Blue. The album peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart,[6] and at number 19 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.[7] The album was made available on vinyl on March 25.[8] Illenium later embarked on The Ashes Tour, which is set to conclude on December 28.[9]

Personal life

In 2013, Illenium moved to Denver, Colorado, where he currently resides.[10] During an interview, Illenium stated that when he's not producing music, he spends a lot of time outdoors with his girlfriend and best friends; where the DJ noted: "I feel like that keeps me centered." He also stated that one of his favorite activities is going out to the movies.[11]

Illenium cites ODESZA and Porter Robinson as some of his musical influences, while also considering Robinson a "dream collab."[12]
