I Am Not Your Negro is an American documentary film by Raoul Peck, released in 2016.[1] Based on James Baldwin's unfinished manuscript Remember This House[1] and narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, the film explores the history of race relations in the United States through Baldwin's reminiscences of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr..[1]
The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People's Choice Award in the documentary category.[2] It was picked up for theatrical distribution by Magnolia Pictures.[3]
