Early life

Marri is the son of Baloch leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri and brother of Changez Marri, Balach Marri, Ghazan Marri, Hamza Marri and Mehran Baluch. In 1980 he came to the UK with his family and he went to Afghanistan with his family from UK in 1981 during General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq's regime. He did his early education in Pakistan and Kabul, Afghanistan and then moved to Russia for higher education.

Political asylum

The British government granted political asylum to Baloch leader Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri.[1]

Return

Marri returned to Pakistan in 1992. His father was too old to start a new political struggle so his brother Balach Marri took his father's place. In 1996, Hyrbyair Marri was elected to Balochistan assembly and was appointed Education Minister of the province. In 1998, Balochistan Police accused his family of murdering judge Nawaz Marri. He escaped from Pakistan to Dubai and then to Britain.
