Human Rights Internet

Human Rights Internet (HRI) is a non-governmental organization based in Ottawa, Canada, that supports the exchange of information within the worldwide human rights community. Launched in the United States, in 1976, as Internet: the International Human Rights Documentation Network it originally used the term InterNet for the concept of an international network of human rights organizations. Over the years HRI has worked with a number of governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental actors to disseminate information and help empower marginalized and minority groups, as well as stimulating reflections on human rights to initiate policy change and institutional development.

Today, HRI is working to build an online space where individuals and organizations can access current human rights information and resources; to inspire education, advocacy and dialogue in Canada and beyond.
