The Hotel Alba Caracas is the first 5 star hotel in Venezuela, dedicated to the integration of tourism with arts and culture. It is located in the cultural and financial center of Caracas, between Av. Mexico with Av. Sur 25. It overlooks El Ávila National Park and Los Caobos Park and has direct access to the Caracas Metro. It is the largest hotel in Venezuela and has a height of 120 meters.

History

In the 1930s, coffee plantations covered the hotel site. In 1944 the area became the first corporate headquarters of Creole Petroleum. In 1955 the headquarters became a National Security government building government of Marcos Pérez Jiménez.

In 1965, engineer Juan Sánchez Carranza was designated to manage construction of a residential building for the middle class, in which only about 90% of the work had been achieved. It was first named Hotel Gran Caracas.

After much reconstruction it was inaugurated in 1969 with the name of Hotel Caracas Hilton.

In 1979, Carranza began developing an extension for the building. It opened in 1989 and is known as the North Tower.

In 2006, the Centro Simón Bolívar renewed the grant to Hilton Hotels for five years. After that, the company continued improvements: it upgraded the pool, bathrooms and other areas. However, within a few months, the government terminated the contract. In 2007, the hotel was sold to Centro Simón Bolívar. It began operations with the name Hotel Alba Caracas. According to official information, the state spent more than six billion bolivars in upgrades including linen, crockery and recovery facilities and disabled spaces. In 2010 it was expropriated by the Ministry of Tourism to form part of the network of hotels Venetur.
