"Holy Key" is a single by DJ Khaled, featuring American rappers Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar and American singer Betty Wright. It was released on July 22, 2016 by We the Best Music Group and Epic Records as the third single of DJ Khaled's ninth studio album, Major Key.[1] The song was produced by Edsclusive with co-production by Cool & Dre.[2]

Background

In the days leading up to the release of “Holy Key”, DJ Khaled teased that Kendrick would have the most talked about verse on his album Major Key.[3] Khaled spoke about the collaboration process at a NYC listening party in July 2016 and said "I told Kendrick that I needed him to catch the Holy Ghost. No rules, no nothing. I told Big Sean the same thing. After I got the verses I got Ms. Wright, and I gave her some vibes, the tools for this hook. Basically, I told her to go to church."[4]

For unknown reasons, like For Free a music video for the song was never made.
