Hero is the debut studio album by Australian pop singer John Paul Young, released in 1975. Hero first charted on October 27, 1975, peaked at 9th position and stayed in the charts for 20 weeks. It was released through the Albert Productions. The album was produced by ex Easybeats members Vanda & Young. Yesterday's Hero B/W The Next Time first charted on March 17, 1975, peaked at 8th position and stayed in the charts for 27 weeks. The Love Game B/W St. Louis first charted on September 22, 1975, peaked at 4th position and stayed in the charts for 20 weeks.
Overview
John Paul Young became well known when working with producers/composers Harry Vanda and George Young. Simon Napier-Bell, producer and manager of many leading British acts at the time, produced John Paul Young’s debut solo recording for Albert's, the single Pasadena co-written by Vanda & George Young and English actor David Hemming. Pasadena charted at #10 on the Sydney charts, followed by You Drive Me Crazy in February 1973. John's next single The Love Game, released in August 1975. The Love Game became John's second national Top 5 hit and peaked at #9 in Melbourne during October. In November 1975 he released his debut album, Hero, entirely written and produced by Vanda & Young.
