Hefei Metro (Chinese: 合肥地铁) is a rapid transit system in Hefei currently under construction. Line 1 begun construction on 1 June 2012. First a 4.4 km test line will be the first section completed. By 2016 the test section will be reformed into the new 29 km long line 1 and opened to the public.[1] Line one is a north-south line with 25 stations.[2] Line 2, which is also under construction is scheduled to open in 2017[3] and be the first east-west subway in Hefei. It will have a length of 27 km and 22 stations.[4] Thales Saic Transport is providing the line with urban rail traffic management and CBTC systems

Line 1 will run from Hefei Railway Station to the newly developed Lake District passing though Hefei South Railway Station. A Line 1's has an investment estimate of 13 billion yuan, with the average cost of 533 million yuan / line km.[5]
