Heavy Lord was a doom/sludge metal band from Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands

Overview

Heavy Lord formed in 2003 and after a serial of gigs they recorded their first album The Holy Grail in 2004 at the Yellow Tape studio in Belgium. Following this release the band had many gigs across the Netherlands. In 2005 they recorded their second album From Cosmos to Chaos at Het Pand in Vlaardingen and released it themselves. After Belgium they made their debut in Germany, supporting Crowbar and High on Fire, and did their first tour with Belgian doom band Mose. In 2006 Heavy Lord was signed by the Russian label Solitude Productions and played as a support act for the French metal band Gojira. They also played at Doom Shall Rise in Germany the same year.

In 2007 Heavy Lord supported Officium Triste and did a tour through Belgium and France following another support show with Nebula and some loose gigs in Germany and France. At the end of 2007 the band recorded their third album Chained to the World at The Void.

In 2008, Chained to the World was released on vinyl to promote the album. Heavy Lord played with several bands including Amen Ra and Weedeater and the band re-released The Holy Grail, touring through Germany and Austria with Toner Low. In 2009 Heavy Lord headlined the Burn Out festival in Milan, Italy and toured France and Belgium once again. After a little break Steve opened his own studio and the band announced a new album coming in 2010.

After the recording of their new album, they toured through Germany at the end of 2010. Wouter decided to quit the band and was replaced by Reign of War drummer JW. In May 2011, their third album Balls To All was released. They played several gigs in the Netherlands and Belgium, and supported EyeHateGod and Church of Misery. In August 2011 Wouter decided to return to the band.

Heavy Lord gave a final gig in Bikers Cafe "the other place" in Rotterdam on 6 October 2012.
