Heather Dawn Bright, also known by her stage name Bright Lights, (born on July 15, 1982) is an American recording artist and songwriter.
Early life
Bright moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 2001 to pursue a recording career and attend Berklee College of Music. She graduated in 2005.[1] In 2005, she was chosen to appear as a contestant on the UPN reality TV series Road To Stardom with Missy Elliott, where she competed for a recording contract. She was kicked off the show during the first episode.[2] Following her appearance on the show, Bright moved to New York City where she began her career as a songwriter.[3]
2009-present: songwriting career and debut album
Bright's first release came in 2009 with Ashley Tisdale's "Hot Mess" off her second studio album Guilty Pleasure.[4] Guilty Pleasure debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 charts.[5] She went on to write for a host of other artists[6] including Britney Spears,[7][8] Usher,[9] Toni Braxton,[10] The Wanted,[11] Far East Movement,[12] Karmin,[13] and Allison Iraheta.[14][15] Her most successful song to date is Justin Bieber's single "Somebody To Love"[16] which peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts[17] and reached Top 10 in Canada.[18] "Somebody To Love" was the second single off Bieber's album, My World 2.0. In addition to her songwriting career, she is also a vocalist in the electro/house genre.[19] Her first artist release came in 2010 with producer Justin Michael.[20] The song, "Trouble," was released through Ultra Records and garnered the "hot shot debut" on the Billboard dance charts, eventually peaking at #22.[21] She has since written and recorded several hits in the dance field including Zedd's "Stars Come Out," Porter Robinson's "Language", Bingo Players' "Don't Blame the Party (Mode)", Savoy's "We Are the Sun," and Flinch's "Light It Up."[22]
She has performed at many dance venues and festivals around the country including Ultra Music Festival[23] and Electric Daisy Carnival.[24]
