Havana Times

Havana Times is an independent Cuban blog[1] founded in 2008. The online publication is edited in Nicaragua. Most of its contributors live in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo. There are also Cuban contributors in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Mexico and volunteer translators in the Netherlands, the United States and England.

Overview

It was established in November 2007[2] and is published online in Spanish and English with no print version. It is an independent news outlet that is probably the closest that Cuba comes to having a daily paper (as opposed to Granma, which is an outlet for the Party line). Cubans access its articles using their phones, as normal Internet access is prohibitively expensive in Cuba.
