Hatebreeder is the second studio album by Finnish metal band Children of Bodom. The “Deluxe Edition” was released in 2005 with bonus material. Hatebreeder was also re-released in 2008.
Reception
In 2005, Hatebreeder was ranked number 492 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.[6]

Children of Bodom. By now we've all at least heard the name spoken. There's been a lot of debate over the genre. Are they black metal, death metal, melodic death, or power metal? I'm not here to clear up any controversy over the genre. Because there's no getting over the fact that no matter what genre they happen to fall into, Children of Bodom is one badass metal band hailing from Espoo, Finland, not far from their nation's capital.

Much like their other albums, Hatebreeder is highlighted by Bodom's two strongest points. Their take on extreme power metal is a very impressive mix of shredding; thrashy riffs; neo-classical passages; melodic yet fast melodies; infectious keyboarding; and of course, am eerie atmosphere.
