Haripad V. Murukadas (Malayalam: ഹരിപ്പാട് മുരുകദാസ് ) (born 15 May 1971) is an Indian carnatic musician in the wind instrument Nadaswaram.[1] A leading disciple of nadaswara maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar,[2] he is also a music educator at Kshetra Kala Peetom in Vaikom.

Early life and training

Born in Haripad, in Alappuzha district of Kerala, Murukadas learned the basics of nadaswaram lessons from the great Nadaswara Vidwan (master)late Haripad Chellappa Panicker and now learning and performing under the guidance of nadaswara maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar.[2][3]

Career

He is a graded-artist from All India Radio (AIR) Trivandrum and working as an instructor in Kshetra Kala Peetom, Vaikom.[4] He is a regular performer in most of the temple festivals and kutcheris in South Kerala.[5][6]

Awards and recognition

Murukadas has won many wind instrument competitions at schools and university levels.
