Hailey Rhode Baldwin (born November 22, 1996) is an American model. She is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin.

Early life and family

Baldwin was born in Tucson, Arizona, US, in 1996, the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, the youngest of the Baldwin brothers, and Kennya Deodato. On her mother's side, she has European-Brazilian origins as the granddaughter of Brazilian musician Eumir Deodato,^[2] and her father is of English, Irish, Scottish, French and German descent. Baldwin has an older sister, Alaia, who also works as a fashion model. Baldwin was home schooled as a child.

Career

Modeling

The first modeling agency Baldwin signed for was New York agency Ford Models.^[3] She initially appeared in magazines such as Tatler,^[4] LOVE,^[5] V^[6] and i-D.^[7] Her first commercial campaign was for the clothing brand French Connection in the winter of 2014.^[8] In October 2014 Baldwin made her runway debut walking for Topshop^[9] and French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel.^[10] In December 2014 she was involved in a photo-session for LOVE Magazine, which also produced a short movie shot by photographer Daniel Jackson and released on the magazine's official YouTube channel.^[11]

In January 2015 Baldwin was photographed for American Vogue^[12] and in March for Teen Vogue.^[13] In April she was involved in a shot for her first magazine cover for Jalouse Magazine alongside male model Lucky Blue Smith.^[14][15] In the same month she also was involved in two other cover-shoots, for the Dutch edition of L'Officiel Magazine^[16] and the American edition of Wonderland Magazine^[17][18] and was pictured in editorials forMiss Vogue^[19] and W^[20] magazines. In July 2015 she was featured in a Ralph Lauren commercial advertising, which also featured Australian singer Cody Simpson,^[21] and in October will return to walk on the runway for designers Tommy Hilfiger^[22] and Philipp Plein.^[23] In 2015 Baldwin was also signed to the modeling agency Heroes Models.

In January 2016 Baldwin worked for a Ralph Lauren campaign^[24] and was involved in an editorial shooting for the Korean edition of Vogue Magazine.^[25] After walking again for Tommy Hilfiger in February,^[26] she featured in the spring/summer collections' advertisings of Philipp Plein^[27] and Tommy Hilfiger.^[28][29] In the same period she was also shot for Self Magazine^[30] and filmed for a commercial of clothing brand H&M, which fell in the Coachella Music Festival period.^[31] In March 2016, Baldwin signed a contract with IMG Models high-profile New York modeling agency^[32] and in May appeared on the cover of Marie Claire Magazine, which gave her the title of a "fresh face".^[33] The American cover was also the same as the July issue of the Dutch edition of the magazine.^[34] In June Baldwin walked for Moschino with high-profile supermodels as Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman^[35] and in July she features in French singer and model Baptiste Giabiconi's Love To Love You Baby single music video.^[36] In the same month she also debuts as a model for a Guess advertising.^[37] Afterwards Baldwin is photographed and filmed for an UGG footwear campaign,^[38] which supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has taken part to as well.^[39] She is also along model Joan Smalls the face of a Karl Lagerfeld limited-edition clothing line available in North America only called "Love From Paris"^[40] and gets also photoshot for severals magazines: she is on the cover of ES Magazine^[41] and French magazine French Revue de Modes (featuring many other models too),^[42] and appears in several editorials for Glamour Magazine,^[43] Italian Vogue^[44] and is photoshot by photographer Rayan Ayash in a metropolitan New York City scenario.^[45] In September she took part at the New York Fashion Week, walking for Tommy Hilfiger,^[46] Prabal Gurung,^[47] Jeremy Scott,^[48] Tory Burch^[49] and Matty Bovan.^[50] She afterwards flew to London, where she walked for a Julien Macdonald fashion show,^[51] then in Milan, walking for Dolce & Gabbana,^[52] and in Paris too, walking for Elie Saab.^[53] She is also advertising a Prabal Gurung sportive clothing collection.^[54] She later featured the campaign for Guess' holiday collection^[55] and so did for Australian brand Sass & bide.^[56] Baldwin was later shot for the Australian edition of magazine Harper's Bazaar, which she appears on the cover of the Nevember issue of,^[57] and she lated featured a French Elle magazine editorial.^[58]

Other ventures

Acting and TV appearances

In 2005, aged 9, Baldwin appeared by the side of her family in the television documentary Livin It: Unusual Suspects^[59] and in 2009 she made a cameo in an episode of the TV show Saturday Night Live by the side of her uncle Alec Baldwin and Jonas Brothers' vocal group.^[60]

Hosting

On October 25 in 2015 Baldwin worked as a TV host at the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards in Milan, Italy, revealing by the side of Italian supermodel Bianca Balti and English rapper Tinie Tempah the winner of the Best Music Video Award, won by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for the music video of their song Downtown.^[61]

On June 19, 2016 she co-hosted with model Gigi Hadid announcing a live exhibition by Shawn Mendes at the 2016 iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards in Toronto, Canada.^[62]

Personal branding

In 2016 Baldwin collaborated with clothing brand The Daily Edited promoting a handbag capsule collection labeled as #theHAILEYedited collection.^[63] Later in the year she announced a collaboration with UK footwear brand Public Desire, using the hashtag #PDxHB.^[64][65]

In the same year she announced she would be launching her own make-up collection produced by Australian brand ModelCo.^[66]

Personal life

Baldwin's main professional target was becoming a professional classic ballet dancer, but she had to stop her training due to a foot injury.^[67] As a child she also wanted to become a doctor and after she graduated from highschool she's still studying medical terminology according to what she said to British Vogue.^[68]

In January 2016 Baldwin was spotted on a New Year vacation on a tropical location with Canadian singer Justin Bieber, with whom relationship was soon after confirmed by a picture Bieber himself posted on his Instagram profile which was showing himself and Baldwin kissing.^[69][70] However Baldwin and Bieber's relationship had a brief duration.^[71] Later that years Baldwin was involved in rumors of being dating Canadian rapper Drake,^[72] although she has stated to be just friends.^[73] Baldwin is also said to be friends with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid and Jaden and Willow Smith: << We all kind of come from the same background, essentially our families are already in the [entertainment] industry and [...] it's not very hard for young people in the [entertainment] industry to get connected and become friends [...]. People [...] are like: 'What [are] you guys doing [...]?' as if we do anything that's out of the ordinary [...], just normal teenagers >>.^[74]

Baldwin was raised as a Christian evangelist and often shares on Social Media quotations of the Bible: << I was raised in church. I was brought up in that life, and I think that it's very important for everybody to be in touch with their spirituality and to have a relationship with God. Not everybody is going to believe in the God that I believe in, but it's something that I'm not afraid to share with people because I know how it inspires me — how it positively affects my life [...]. I think that God kind of put me in the place in my life to not be quiet about it, not be quiet about him, but to reach people and to inspire people >>.^[75]

In late 2016 Baldwin spoke out about the rumors which have accused her of having had plastic surgery with an aesthetic aim, which mainly focused on her lips and cheekbones. << Everybody literally thinks I've had plastic surgery [...]. Do people want me to go to a doctor and have them examine my face so they can tell people I haven't? My face has just matured. I grew into my looks. I do look different than I did when I was younger, but it's still the same face >> Baldwin told ES Magazine.^[76]

Public image

In early 2016, after Canadian pop-star Justin Bieber dating rumors were confirmed, Baldwin gained a major worldwide media attention than she used to have at the beginnings of her modeling carreer. Since her brief relationship with Bieber the public eye has connected Baldwin to the singer during the following period, as she was accused of having dated Bieber in order to gain notoriety, although she has later told Marie Claire getting "attention from dating somebody" hasn't ever been her intention.^[78] In the same period of their dating relationship, Maxim called Baldwin "the latest girl Justin Bieber doesn't deserve" and wrote: << We detest Justin Bieber for everything he stands — his horrible attitude, his bad behavior, his punchable face — but between Baldwin and Xenia Deli, he certainly has a habit of turning up beautiful women >>.^[79]

As a part of the latest modeling generation often called by the media "Instagirls" (a combination of the words "girls" and "Instagram", allegedly the most popular Social Networking platform used by the Millennials' generation in the 2010s), Baldwin is ofter compared to coetaneous models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, although she has once stated to People: << I’m not on the same level as Gigi and Kendall [...] We’re not in the same place in our careers >>, not labeling herself as a latest years' "supermodel" then.^[80]

In January 2016 Glamour Magazine wrote about Baldwin's style: << Whether she's a brunette or a blond or she's going ultra glam or running errands [...], a messy bun with a very precise cat eye or [she might] darken her lips when she goes for a smoky eye [...] there's always a slight tweak to her style that keeps you interested >>.^[81] Later that year, in Septeber, The Sun wrote refering to Baldwin: << God, it must be exhausting being so beautiful >> ^[82] and afterwards web-site RealClearLife wrote about Baldwin that << the it girl will no doubt continue to build on this success [...] and will confirm her rising star status at the next set of fashion weeks >>.^[83] Afterwards Teen Vogue also called Baldwin a "star": << [...] for a star like Hailey, [the mandatory revisitation of our childhood] means an incredibly professional-looking ballet in which she appears to be the prima ballerina >>^[84] and so did Yahoo! News, calling Baldwin "the latest rising star of the catwalk": << [Baldwin] has all it takes to become one of the most prominent models in the business over the coming year >>.^[85]
