Gugjakovo

Gugjakovo (Macedonian: Гуѓаково/Guǵakovo) is a village in the Municipality of Prilep.

Geography

The village is situated on the left bank of Crna (Black) river, The village of Gugjakovo is located in the southern part of the Republic of Macedonia. From the nearest city, Prilep , the village is situated 40 km south-east of Prilep (via).

Natural Conditions

Gugjakovo is located in the north alpine area of Mariovo , as one of the most remote, but also ethnically the cleanest parts of the Orthodox Slavic population on the territory of Macedonia. The settlement was laid south of Mount Dren, while the southeast rises Selečka mountains . Altitude is approximately 640 meters. The village is completely surrounded by mountains, while Gugjakovo is in a plain

The climate in the village is mountainous due to the high altitude.

History

In the 19th century, Gugjakovo is a village in Prilep. in the Ottoman Empire. In " Ethnography vilayets of Adrianople, Monastir and Salonika ", published in Constantinople in 1878 and reflecting the statistics of the male population by 1873, Budyakovo mentioned as a village with 27 households and 105 Bulgarian residents.

At the beginning of 20th century, the Bulgarian population is under the rule of the Bulgarian Exarchate.

At the outbreak of the Balkan War in 1912, three people from Gugjakovo volunteered.

It was also known as Godjakovo (Serbian Cyrillic: Годјаково) during the Kingdom of Serbia.^[1]

Population

According to the census of 2002, Gugjakovo was uninhabited. At the beginning of the 20th century here lived near 300 inhabitants. all Bulgarians Christians

Mostly people in the village were ethnic Macedonians .

The majority religion in the village was Orthodoxy .

Lazar Ristovski (1954–Present) - A famous Serbian actor and director, originally from Gugjakovo
